Technology Myths Are Put to the Test
There are many technology myths that exist today. Whether they have been started by the tech-illiterate or merely the uninformed, these myths have perpetuated for years. Some of these myths are simply from bygone eras and hold no more meaning while others are recent and have garnered popular attention. Some of these myths have been created by retail stores even as a means to sell more expensive product to the general public. Well, the folks over at PC World have finally put some of these myths to the test bed and I am sure some of you will be surprised by what has been found. Intel Launches Atom N550 Dual-Core Processor
Back at Computex, Intel was talking up its latest dual-core Atom processor, the N550, and now that processor is ready to launch in various netbooks. The N550 runs at 1.5GHz, has 1MB of cache, and supports DDR3 memory. Intel is also promising battery life similar to that of the single core N450 but I think I will wait for some reviews before I believe that. Intel does say that using a netbook with the N550 powering it will be a more responsive experience and should allow for greater multitasking which will be a very welcome addition to netbook users. YouTube and Hulu are mentioned by Intel so hopefully those two services will see some improvements on the new Atom processor, though I still feel that you need something a little bit more powerful than the integrated Intel graphics solution to fully enjoy those. The first netbook that will use the new N550 processor will be the ASUS 1015PN, which also has NVIDIA ION graphics, but I don't think we will have to wait very long for more netbooks to hit the market with the new chip.

Halo: Reach Has Been Leaked
Halo games have a history of being made available before release date. Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 3: ODST were all pirated, and now Halo: Reach can be added to that list. However, the story of how it leaked is different this time around. Microsoft placed the game in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, and handed out keys to reviewers. GameTuts, a group of modders, found a way around the security measures put in place by Microsoft, and modified it for public use. The team at GameTuts never intended to release it to the public, but it has still found its way to torrent sites. It was intended only to give members of the site access to the game, but someone had other plans. Being caught with this game prior to release will likely result in your console being banned from the Xbox LIVE service.
