MOTOBLUR's days are numbered :: Posted by THRASHER2
MOTOBLUR, Motorola's custom UI (user interface) for Android devices hasn't made a big impact when it was first introduced and it's not looking like it will in the future as its maker has decided to stop promoting this offering.
According to Motorola's Co-CEO Dr. Sanjay Jha, the company is going to "focus on the value proposition of products and not MOTOBLUR as a brand name in its own right." This suggests that MOTOBLUR is on its way out as Motorola will simply be making tweaks to the UI of next-gen Android devices.
Android 3.0 is promising a major visual revamp and apparently Motorola will be happy to work with that. As a side note, HTC is still committed to its Sense UI which is expected to be used for Android 3.0+ phones too.

New AMD parts listed and coming :: Posted by THRASHER2
Semprons, Athlons, Phenoms, the lot
AMD has started shipping two new no thrills processors, but a couple of more interesting parts are still on the way.
The new Sempron 145 is the fastest Sargas single-core to date, with a 2.8GHz clock and a price tag of around €35.
The Phenom II X2 560 Black Edition is a bit more interesting. It is a Callisto-based dual core clocked at 3.3GHz. It packs 1MB of L1 and 6MB of L3 cache and has an 80W TDP. At 3.3GHz, it’s the fastest AMD dual-core and one of the highest clocked AMD parts in general. It costs €100 and it has an unlocked multiplier.
The Athlon II X3 450 is AMD’s latest triple-core and it seems like a rather good deal. This Rana-based part is clocked at 3.2GHz, it has 1.5MB of L2 cache and no L3 cache whatsoever. It has a 95W TDP and it’s listed at €86 which sounds more than reasonable.
ThereÂ’s also a new six-core on the way. The 1075T is based on the Thuban core, however, itÂ’s not inhabited by smug cats and it won't try to destroy the earth. ItÂ’s clocked at 3.0GHz, has a 125W TDB, but we still donÂ’t have the price.

Intel launches netbook game development program :: Posted by THRASHER2
Too little, two years too late
Intel has launched a rather interesting and long overdue developer program in cooperation with The Game Creators.
The chipmaker announced a contest for game developers keen to take on the no-thrills netbook platform. Of course, netbooks donÂ’t pack enough muscle to run proper games, at least not current ones. Basically, users could install some old titles and have some fun on the go, but the platform is very limited, mainly due to lackluster graphics performance.
Intel is aiming to change all that nad itÂ’s offering a $5,000 top prize for the best game submitted in the contest, as well as $1,000 prizes for winners in each category. Runners up will win free netbooks, which doesnÂ’t sound like much of an incentive all things considered.
Although the prizes might not seem very generous, Intel apparently isnÂ’t seeking much in the first place. Games should be submitted in zipped form and they should take up no more than 250MB with no install required.
While this is a good step on IntelÂ’s part, we canÂ’t but wonder why the company didnÂ’t launch similar programs some two years ago, when the netbook craze at its peak.

Nvidia GTX 480 512SP tested :: Posted by THRASHER2
Five percent faster and 204W hungrier
The guys from Expreview.com somehow managed to get their hands on Nvidia's GF100 with all 512 stream processors, or as Nvidia calls them today, CUDA cores. Back when it was announced, the GF100 appeared on the GTX 480 card, but only slightly crippled, with 480 SPs, and it looks like that Expreview.com scored the reason why Nvidia never announced the full 512SP card and probably never will.
Although the numbers seems a bit odd considering that the 512SP card is about five percent faster in average and at the same time has a power consumption of over 200W more under load when compared to the GTX 480. We have no reason not to take those numbers seriously. We are sure that even the guys from Expreview rechecked those scores, but it looks like that the fully enabled GF100 just doesn't make sense.
Despite the large triple-fan cooler running at 92 percent, the card managed to hit 94 degrees Celsius, which is practically insane considering the sheer size of the cooler.
It is still unclear if such a card will ever be available and if Nvidia will ever stand behind such a card, but one thing is clear, it just doesn't make sense. (And it could very easily fall under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. sub.ed.)
