
Kingston DDR3 memory broke frequency record
It seems that DDR3 has matured to such an extent that a 2,333 MHz kit, namely Kingston's HyperX KHX2333C9D3T1K3, was last week at GamesCom 2010 taken to a record-setting frequency of 3,068 MHz. This was achieved by overclockers Benjamin Benji Tshi Bioux and Jean-Baptiste marmott Gerard.

Acer Chrome OS netbook info surfaced
Acer will be releasing a Chrome OS-based netbook later this year so leaks were bound to happen, with the latest revealing some of the specifications of the machine Google's operating system is being installed and tested on. While unconfirmed as the final build, Acer's Chrome OS netbook was found to feature an Atom N455 processor at 1.66 GHz, 1GB of RAM, a SanDisk pSSD-S2 solid state drive of 8GB capacity, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, an ambient light sensor, LAN and Bluetooth.

Firefox 4.0 beta 4 released
Mozilla has released the fourth public beta version of its upcoming Firefox 4.0 browser which is available in 39 languages and now comes with Firefox Sync, the Overview feature for organizing tabs, and an experimental API that should provide more efficient Javascript animations.

AMD releases details of Bulldozer and Bobcat architectures
2011 is supposed to be a big year for AMD, as it will be releasing a whole range of processors based on two new architectures, Bulldozer and Bobcat. The former will be used for chips targeting servers, notebooks and desktops, while the latter will take over nettops, netbooks and other mobile devices. Bobcat is set to debut with the 32nm Ontario low-power processor, the first APU (accelerated processing unit) featuring a single x86 core, a memory controller and a GPU core all on the same die. Bobcat can consume under one watt, features an out-of-order execution engine, and will pack 512kB of L2 cache. There won't be any performance records broken with this one but Bobcat should make for a very interesting mobile solution.
