For all them HTPC users, PowerColor has rolled out a low-profile version Radeon HD 5750 that features pretty neat-looking dual-slot, dual-fan cooler. The new PowerColor HD 5750 should be available in next few weeks with a price set at around US $25 more than a standard version, probably due to the special cooler.

Graphics weaknesses on Mac surfaced with multiplatform Steam
The downside of allowing Steam PC-Mac connections is that users were starting to notice that Apple graphics were not cutting the mustard alongside PCs. Apparently when Mac users were allowed to use the gaming hub they discovered much to their horror that their expensive hardware was not as good as cheap PCs. Now it seems that Apple has got the message and has provided a graphics update for OS X Snow Leopard which will it hopes will fix the problem. A Steam spokesman said that it had spent a large chunk of effort over the last few months working with Apple and their GPU vendors to close the performance gap with Windows.

Sony develops a single wire interface for mobileS
In attempt to make electronics a bit simpler, Sony has come up with a single wire interface technology enabling the transmission of both data and power via a single cable inside mobile devices. Currently, video, audio, control signals and power transmissions are handled by multiple wires, and that's fine for a lot of hardware, but not for future products that will be smaller and require higher flexibility, reliability and durability.

Silverstone Fortress: Something Entirely Different
What do you get when you mix two popular enclosure models by Silverstone, namely Temijin TJ07 and Raven RV01? A new series called “Fortress”. All enclosures in the family have taken the very best out of their predecessors. Intel plans to purchase McAfee
Intel has announced plans to acquire security company McAfee for $7.68 billion. The chipmaker believes the move will provide it with an edge in the security market and the ability to blend security features into new devices. Intel CEO Paul Otellini announced that the integration will improve security for internet users and their devices and the first results of the new partnership will be released in 2011.

LG brings Nvidia Tegra 2 to smartphones
Various reports state that LG will begin using Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processors in upcoming smartphones, marking just the second time a company has agreed to use the chips in their mobile devices. Currently, smartphones from Samsung, Motorola and others use processors from Qualcomm and Texas Instruments. Microsoft's now-defunct Kin smartphones used the Tegra chips, but poor branding and marketing led to heinous sales of the devices. Microsoft's Zune HD media player uses the Tegra line, with excellent results.

ATI prepares new dual-GPU card before end of year
It seems that ATI's next generation high-end Radeon 6000 series card is going to be a dual-chip card based on new 40nm chips that are expected to get slightly faster than the current generation. The best part is that it comes in 2010. The new performance chips as a tweaked version of the highly succesful Cypress core, but this time they will introduce support for the new HDMI interface as well as new UVD. Eyefinity will also become more functional and cheaper to implement on multiple monitor setups.

AMD drops prices on its CPUs
AMD has quietly dropped the prices on their CPUs this week, affecting some of their desktop processor line. The processors saw anywhere from a $3-to-$22 drop: the price of the Athlon II X4 640 dropped by $22, the most of any processor, from $122 to $100.
