Toshiba develops technology which wipes hard drives after power-off
Toshiba has developed a new technique to make self-encrypting hard drives truly secure. Known just as Wipe, it would let companies and individuals flag the internal encryption key so that it's automatically erased if the system is shut down or if the drive is removed. The move would clear data on the drive even without access to software on the computer that would control the drive.

Epson releases two low-cost all-in-one printers
Epson introduced the Workforce 320 and Workforce 325, two new entry-level all-in-ones which offer the ability to scan directly to PDF and e-mail. Other business-friendly features are the inclusion of a large 30-page automatic document feeders and fade, water, and smudge resistant ink that comes in individual color cartridges.

Kaspersky discovers first Android trojan
Kaspersky identified one of the first readily identifiable instances of Android malware in the field. Trojan-SMS.AndroidOS.FakePlayer.a comes disguised as a media player app but secretly sends text messages in the background to destinations that will charge the user, often without permission or notices. The code is believed to be a moneymaking scheme. The instance isn't the first instance of rogue code on the platform, but is the first Android-native code. A batch of HTC Magic phones from Vodafone were accidentally given Windows viruses that infected computers when they were attached over USB.

Jailbroken iPhones get basic Adobe Flash support
A hacker named Comex, the man behind the Web-based iPhone jailbreaking site, has released Frash for the smartphone, certain iPod Touch models and the iPad allowing for Adobe Flash support on jailbroken devices. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has long said that the company will not support Flash on i devices.
