512-core GeForce GTX 480 5% faster than the existing one
All signs suggest that NVIDIA is finally getting close to unleashing a full-fat 512-core GeForce GTX 480, and we've already seen the leaked PCB. Here's now something equally as interesting: leaked benchmarks. The folks at Chinese website Expreview.com who claim to have the unannounced card have put it through a few simple tests to illustrate exactly what's on offer from an extra shader cluster. Running 3DMark Vantage in extreme mode, the 512-core card returns a GPU score of 10,072. That's nearly a 6 per cent increase over the current 480-core model, with 3DMark suggesting a 7 per cent boost in texture fillrate.

Apple's senior VP of engineering got fired because of Antennagate
Apple's senior VP of engineering Mark Papermaster is leaving the company, following the recent antennagate debacle of the iPhone 4. Apple spokesman Steve Dowling confirmed the report, and added that his position will be taken over by Bob Mansfield, VP of Macintosh engineering. Papermaster was formally IBM's vice president of microprocessor technology development, working primarily in processor design.
