Samsung might reveal the new Android tablet on August 11
Samsung gave hints that its Galaxy Tab tablet could be launched within two weeks. The company confirmed in a public statement only that the seven-inch Android tablet should ship before the end of the summer, but it has also sent out an invite for a special event on August 11 that could include the Galaxy Tab. The Korean company is unlikely to have any phone unveilings in store as it just recently held a major gathering for its Galaxy S US release and doesn't have known major smartphones in the pipeline. Likewise, virtually all of its home theater equipment was introduced at CES in January and has been shipping for some time.

Dell Zino HD mini desktop gets quad-core Phenom II and dedicated graphics
Dell's Inspiron Zino HD mini desktop will finally get a performance boost soon as documentation from Dell itself has confirmed faster options. This PC's maximum options will jump from a dual-core Athlon X2 to a quad-core Phenom II; triple-core will also be a choice. Integrated graphics will ramp up to a Radeon HD 4250, but dedicated graphics will advance further still with a Mobility Radeon HD 5450 as a replacement for the 4330.

Worries that Microsoft's new slim Xbox 360 Arcade would lack expansion were mollified as a glimpse at the console's box revealed that an upgrade will still be an option. At least a 250GB hard drive will be available as an option for gamers who want to trade up from the built-in 4GB of flash memory. Instead of an elaborate side-mounted enclosure, the upgrade drive is a simple black box that slots into the back.

Hacker intercepts GSM phone calls with homebuilt $1,500 IMSI catcher
Back in 2009. Chris Paget showed the world the vulnerabilities of RFID technology by downloading the contents of US passports from the safety of his automobile. This year, he's doing the same for mobile phones. Demonstrating at DefCon 2010, the hacker fooled 17 nearby GSM phones into believing his $1,500 kit (including a laptop and two RF antennas) was a legitimate cell phone base station, and proceeded to intercept and record audience calls. As far as your cell phones are concerned, I'm now indistinguishable from AT T , he told the crowd. The purpose of the demonstration was highlight a major flaw in the 2G GSM system, which directs phones to connect to the tower with the strongest signal regardless of origin, in this case Paget's phony tower.
