Global IT spending set to rise
IT spending has shown some hefty recovery after the economic travails of previous years. According to research from IDC, global sales of software and hardware have recovered from the low point of the recession and, consequently, the analysis company has revised its spending forecasts for the year.
According to the research, services expenditure is set to rise two percent, software spending by four percent and hardware spending by a whopping 11 percent. IDC is projecting an overall increase in expenditure of six percent.

Citrix and VMware stake out desktop and server virtualization territory
In the wake of an analyst report certifying Citrix's XenDesktop 4.1 as the only product that fully satisfies all the criteria for enterprise-class desktop virtualization, Citrix Systems has come very close to conceding it will remain an also-ran in the market for virtual servers.
Burton Group analyst Chris Wolf blogged last week that Citrix had met all of the 52 criteria that the analyst company considers to be absolutely necessary in products designed to allow large companies to host end-user desktops on data center servers rather than physical PCs.

iPhone 4 scores high satisfaction ratings despite antenna mess
Despite a blizzard of bad press about the iPhone 4's antenna, more than nine out of 10 consumers who have the smartphone said they're happy with their purchase, a pollster said today.
But early buyers of the iPhone 4 are less likely to be satisfied with the smartphone than were early adopters of last summer's iPhone 3GS, acknowledged Paul Carton, research director at consumer spending research company ChangeWave.
