Verizon - Google's 'Deal' to Foster, Not End, Net Neutrality
Last week, the New York Times showcased a story which implied Google and Verizon were coming to an agreement that would end net neutrality. Both Verizon and Google denied that claim, although indicating they were working on something. On Monday, the two corporations revealed the fruits of their labor: a joint proposal for how the FCC should handle net neutrality. Indeed, it was not the dissolving of the concept of net neutrality that the two firms were working on, but rather the fostering of it, exactly the

Report of Apple CDMA Chipset Order Points to Verizon iPhone
Rumors of a Verizon iPhone have increased in intensity lately, with multiple clues pointing in the direction of Apple finally expanding its iPhone's coverage from the oft-criticized AT&T GSM network to Verizon's CDMA one. The original contract between Apple and AT&T ensured that no other carrier in America would get their phone for a long, long time, but it has been rather unclear as to exactly how long we would have to wait for that contract to expire. Apple Acquires Rights To Liquidmetal Alloys For Use In Own Designs
When your average technology company buys another, smaller technology company, it doesn't always make the news. Or if it does, it's just a blip on the entire tech news radar. But when Apple, Microsoft or Google buys a company, big or small, everyone takes a minute to evaluate the situation and give their take on things. That is what's happening this week after the world found a nugget of information tucked away within Apple's recent 8-K filing with the SEC.

Liquidmetal is a small company that makes a tough, unique metal alloy that can be used in a variety of products, including personal consumer electronics. In years past, it was actually used in a few SanDisk products (amongst others). The metal alloys were originally developed by a team at the California Institute of Technology, and in general, these alloys are tougher to destroy than titanium or aluminum. The 8-K makes a few things very clear, and a few things not so clear. Here's what we do know. The deal that was struck between Liquidmetal and Apple enables Apple to acquire "substantially all of its intellectual property assets." That's vastly important, as it shows that Apple honestly just purchased this entire company for essentially everything that it's worth.

The other important line is here: the deal allows Apple to be a "perpetual, worldwide, fully-paid, exclusive license to commercialize such intellectual property in the field of consumer electronic products in exchange for a license fee." So those SanDisk products with Liquidmetal are the last ones that will be produced until Apple releases their hold, if they ever decide to.

Apple usually doesn't buy companies that they can't use in some form or another, so most are assuming that they want to try a new metal on their next generation iPhone, iPad, iMac and/or MacBook lines. The aluminum bodies that Apple has been using are getting somewhat dated, and with this alloy material, it's much easier to make much more complex bends and shapes. Something tells us the designs from Apple will be ones to watch in the coming year.

Sony Ericsson Brings XPERIA X10 Android Smartphone To AT&T
Just a few months back, AT&T was in last place of the four major U.S. carriers when it came to Android options. They simply had Motorola's Backflip and nothing more. AT&T simply wasn't the operator to choose if you wanted Android. But now, that's changing. AT&T has launched an assault lately in order to get as many Android phones as possible onto their network, and now they're grabbing another that'll be difficult to find anywhere else: Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X10.

This Android phone has been around in global markets for some time now, but only today did SE and AT&T announce a branded version that'll go on sale soon for as little as $129.99 on contract. The X10 is unfortunately stuck with Android 1.6, which is a very dated version of the OS at this point. And since there is some SE customization in there, it's unlikely that the phone will be updated to 2.2 at any point in the near future.

But outside of that, the phone's hardware is actually very impressive. It has a 4" display, GPS, 8.1MP camera with flash, 8GB of onboard storage, 2GB memory card (room for 32GB), as well as SE's own Timescape  communication application and Mediascape app. The phone will ship in black on August 15th, but with so many other Android 2.1 phones on AT&T now, it might be a hard sell.

AT&T and Sony Ericsson Announce the Xperiaâ„¢ X10

Smart meets entertaining - Sony Ericsson's flagship Android smartphone offers an open and integrated world of communication, entertainment and social media

DALLAS and ATLANTA, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T* and Sony Ericsson today announced a dynamic multimedia experience with the Androidâ„¢ based Xperiaâ„¢ X10, available August 15. The Xperiaâ„¢ X10 introduces Sony Ericsson's unique and entertainment-driven Xperiaâ„¢ platform to U.S. customers in a cutting-edge, beautiful and fun package.

The Xperiaâ„¢ X10 comes fully loaded with a 4-inch crystal clear touch display, superfast 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a GPS. The smartphone also features an 8.1 megapixel camera with smile detection, face recognition, autofocus and LED flash. The device comes with 8 GB of on-board memory and a 2 GB in-box memory card, with expandable memory up to 32 GB.

Sony Ericsson's custom user experience is great for the intersection of communications and entertainment. Two signature applications, Mediascape and Timescapeâ„¢, build on the Android platform to enhance the experience for users.

* Mediascape on the Xperia ™ X10 gathers music, photos, videos and content from your phone's memory card and online, letting you browse, search, listen and share your media from one unified view. For example, view photos taken on the device as well as your Facebook® and Picasa™ web albums. Or, when listening to a favorite song on your phone, press Sony Ericsson's infinite button to access related content about the artist pulled from the phone's memory as well as albums, songs and video content from YouTube™ and search results from Google.
* Timescape™ is a unique communication application that automatically organizes social interactions in chronological order, leaving users free to concentrate on keeping in touch on-the-go. From Facebook® and Twitter® updates to photos, emails and text messages, a scrolling menu offers easy viewing and organization of all communications. Additionally, tap the Timescape™ infinite button to bring up and view all communications from a single person in a single place.

"Sony Ericsson has created a unique choice for our smartphone customers looking for a fun and smart device," said Michael Woodward, vice president, Mobile Phone Portfolio, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

"Sony Ericsson is raising the bar for entertainment-rich phones with the launch of the Xperia â„¢ X10," said Paul Hamnett, senior vice president, Sony Ericsson North America. "With the convergence of our user experience platform and the Android OS, we are bringing consumers a smartphone experience that is not only exciting, but also very refined. Following the successful global launch of the Xperiaâ„¢ X10, we are pleased to partner with AT&T to launch this phone in the U.S. market."

Millionth Femtocell To Ship This Year: Will Reception Issues Remain?
The Femtocell. It's a strange name for a device, almost sci-fi like, but these units are becoming more and more popular around the globe as demand for mobile connectivity grows at a far faster rate than the one at which new towers are being erected. The femtocell is a fantastic solution to a problem that isn't going away any time soon, and if you aren't sure about what they are, here's a brief description: Sprint's Airave and AT&T's 3G Microcell are both femtocell devices. You plug these into your home broadband connection, and they create a miniature cell tower or sorts within your home. Now you have a small radius of 5-bar service where you previously had much less (or none at all).

The idea is that if everyone had a femtocell, reception would be better everywhere. Companies have yet to open all of them up for use by everyone (as FON has done overseas with Wi-Fi), but that's still an idea worth pursuing. According to a new ABI Research report, the one millionth femtocell is expected to ship this year, which is definitely a monumental milestone. That forecast reflects the fact that femtocell rollouts by operators have more than doubled in the last year, and the one for 2015 has over 54 million femtocells being shipped.

According to mobile networks practice director Aditya Kaul: "The critical factor for femtocell adoption will be the operators in North America and, to an even greater extent, in China. Chinese operators are still trying to form a view about the femtocell value proposition. In North America, the question is which operator will be most aggressive with femtocell rollouts. AT&T is already proactive, but it appears that Sprint and Verizon are gearing up for a second wave of femtocell deployments."

Price, as always, is a factor as well. Since these units have been out on the market a while, the premium associated with something new and novel is fading, and they're becoming cheaper to acquire. Also, businesses are starting to realize just how helpful these can be when they need boosted service within the office.

We still think femtocells have a long way to go before they are really maximizing their potential. We'd love a signal sharing network that would allow femtocells to act as public reception hotspots, particularly in the U.S. If everyone purchased a femtocell, think about how great the overall reception would be. Now that's a dream we can all embrace.

AMD Pokes Fun Of NVIDIA's Fermi GPU Heat Output In "The Misunderstanding" Video

AMD vs. NVIDIA has been another longstanding battle, and things just got taken up a notch today. AMD clearly poured significant funds and effort into the video below, simply titled "The Misunderstanding." We won't spoil the plot or ending for you, but let's just say there are a few choice one-liners littered throughout the production that will certainly make some folks over at NVIDIA raging mad. U-verse Mobile iPhone App Allows DVR Management And Remote Watching
AT&T's U-verse TV service isn't available in too many places these days, but if it's available in your neck of the woods, and you have an iPhone, then you'll need this new app. In the latest proof of "there's an app for that," AT&T has rolled out a U-verse application. But unlike some apps and and Web portals, which allow users to schedule their DVR remotely, the U-verse app takes things one step further. Way further.

The new U-Verse Mobile app allows subscribers to watch popular TV content on their iPhone, which is definitely a first from a pay-TV provider. Not only can you manage your DVR from your iPhone, but you can also download and watch select shows. This app replaces the Mobile Remote Access for iPhone app, enabling users to view program descriptions, schedule and manage DVR recordings, and add download available episodes over any Wi-Fi connection and watch them in full-screen mode on your iPhone from anywhere. You'll need a U300 package or higher to take advantage of the remote viewing angle, but if you've been on the fence, this may push you over the edge. We can only hope that other pay-TV providers follow suit, and maybe throw Android a bone while they're at it.

AT&T Launches U-verse Mobile App to Let Customers Record and Watch TV Shows From iPhones

First TV Provider to Offer iPhone App with DVR Management and Ability to Download and Watch TV Content While on the Go

DALLAS, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T* today announced its AT&T U-verse® Mobile App is now available on the App Store.

The U-verse Mobile app gives U-verse subscribers the ability to download and watch popular TV content on their iPhone so they can take their U-verse TV experience with them, wherever they go.  AT&T is the first TV provider to offer an integrated mobile app that allows you to both manage your DVR and download and watch select shows. The app is another example of how AT&T delivers more value to U-verse TV customers with continued service enhancements and innovative apps.

U-verse Mobile replaces the popular Mobile Remote Access for iPhone app and incorporates the ability to browse the U-verse TV program guide, view program descriptions, schedule and manage your DVR recordings, while adding the ability to download available episodes over any Wi-Fi connection, and watch them in full-screen mode on your iPhone from anywhere. U-verse TV customers already enjoy the flexibility of remote DVR management. More than 100,000 U-verse TV customers use the Web and Mobile Remote Access apps every month.

"We're making it possible for you to watch TV shows on your iPhone at no extra charge. It's just one more valuable and innovative feature available on U-verse TV," said David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. "Our U-verse multi-screen promise is now a reality for millions of U-verse TV customers, with content available on U-verse TV, U-verse Online, and today, U-verse Mobile. No cable provider comes close to matching the cross-platform experience we're delivering today, and we'll continue to add unique features that further integrate these screens."

All U-verse TV customers can download the app to manage their DVR, and the ability to download and watch content is available for customers that subscribe to the U300 package or higher. U-verse customers can upgrade their TV packages at any time at www.att.com/u-verse. New U-verse TV customers and iPhone owners that order AT&T U-verse U300 or U450 will receive a $75 iTunes gift card.

You can browse or search a library of downloadable shows, and select which series or specific episode you want to download. The content is downloaded to iPhone  over a Wi-Fi connection. All AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet customers have home Wi-Fi installed as part of their service and get access to AT&T's U.S. Wi-Fi network at no additional cost.

The U-verse Mobile App includes TV shows from several popular networks and AT&T will continue to add more content on an ongoing basis. U-verse Mobile is the latest way that AT&T is mobilizing everything that's important to customers — their favorite content, apps, entertainment and social networks. AT&T today delivers the nation's fastest mobile broadband network as well as the nation's largest Wi-Fi network, giving customers the best combination of speed and coverage.

The U-verse Mobile App is available for free from the App Store on iPhone or at www.itunes.com/appstore/.

AT&T U-verse offers numerous features and apps that enhance your entertainment experience, including many ways that TV and wireless services work together — a benefit that cable providers don't offer. In addition to U-verse Mobile, you can check your wireless and U-verse Voice messages from a single voice mailbox; use the YP.COM TV app to search for local business information and send the call to your home or wireless phone with the click of your remote; and more.

AT&T U-verse TV is the only 100 percent Internet Protocol-based television (IPTV) service offered by a national service provider, making AT&T U-verse one of the most dynamic and feature-rich services available today. AT&T U-verse TV ranked "Highest in Residential Television Service Satisfaction in the South and West Regions Two Years in a Row," according to the J.D. ASUS To Utilize Boston-Power’s Sonata Battery Tech For 3x Increase
We have been able to review quite a few ASUS notebooks here, and the battery life has been a total mixed bag. Some of the netbooks had outstanding life, while some of the ultraportables just didn't live up to our hopes. There does not seem to be a lot of uniformity when it comes to battery life in notebooks; some last forever, some only last a blink. But now it looks as if a new battery technology could soon be boosting the life of ASUS notebooks, which could definitely give them a leg up over other notebook makers who aren't taking advantage.

Boston-Power’s Sonata technology is a new Lithium-Ion battery platform that claims to last much longer than convention Li-ion cells, and now ASUS B Series models are using it. The "Sonata Long Life Battery" claims to provide "triple the lifespan of typical notebook batteries," and while that's definitely a bold claim, we suspect that it will at least contribute to some extra length. The ASUS B53 and B43 will be the first new notebooks to utilize this technology, both of which are expected out in the "near future."

We are definitely anxious to hear how this tech improves battery life, particularly if it increases life threefold. And here's hoping more notebook makers catch wind, soon.

ASUS Selects Boston-Power’s Sonata Lithium-ion Battery for New Line of Notebook PCs

ASUS B Series Models Come Standard with Sonata-enabled, Green-certified Battery Featuring a Three-Year Warranty

WESTBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Boston-Power’s Sonata® – the game-changing lithium-ion battery platform credited with setting a new benchmark for portable power performance – is now available as the standard battery for a new line of commercial notebook PCs from ASUS, the B Series models. Among the world’s premier providers of netbooks, notebooks and other consumer electronic devices, ASUS is the number one brand for quality and service in Windows-based portables.

“To fully capture the benefits of mobility, users are seeking dependable, high-performance, safe and environmentally sustainable batteries. Boston-Power has established a global reputation for leadership in delivering those solutions. Teaming with ASUS is a tremendous endorsement of Sonata and our lithium-ion battery platform.”

Shipping this month, the ASUS B Series notebooks offer an unprecedented package of newly introduced technologies, a comprehensive set of business features, and best-in-class warranties for the demanding business user. These features deliver industry leading efficiency, reliability and security along with excellent durability.

Unmatched Performance Paired with Industry’s Best Warranty

Branded as the Sonata Long Life Battery, Boston-Power’s next generation lithium-ion technology platform provides triple the lifespan of typical notebook batteries – thus increasing productivity, lowering the total cost of ownership and supporting the environment. This enables ASUS to offer a three-year warranty on the battery, matching the industry-best three-year warranty on the B-Series notebooks.

“Our customers look to ASUS to provide cost effective solutions that include innovative features such as the Sonata Long Life Battery, which offers not only long term dependability but is also environmentally friendly,” said Rudy Magna, Director of Sales, ASUS Computer International.

Boston-Power and ASUS: Shared Commitment to the Environment

Boston-Power and ASUS share a commitment to ‘green’ computing. The ASUS Green Initiative is overseen by a steering committee led by ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih and encompasses a best-practices approach to green design, green manufacturing, green procurement and green services and marketing. Boston-Power Founder and CEO Dr. Christina Lampe-Önnerud is an environmentalist who based her break-through battery technology on a promise to combat climate change and global warming. Boston-Power recently celebrated the third anniversary of its rechargeable lithium-ion batteries earning the esteemed Nordic Ecolabel accreditation and remains the only lithium-ion battery maker worldwide to hold this designation. The company’s products have also earned a similar industry-first certification from the China Environmental United Certification Center (CEC).

“Today, our portable computing devices are an extension of ourselves and integral to our work and leisure-time activities,” said Boston-Power Vice President of Marketing Sally Bament.

The Flight II is also a full touchscreen device, though it only supports 16GB of memory. Both phones will be available later this week, but AT&T isn't disclosing pricing yet. We're guessing both will sell for under $100 on contract, though.

Western Digital Elements Play: A Media Streamer, Minus The Streamer Part
Media players, and media streamers in particular, are just about everywhere these days. It's not difficult to find one to suit your needs, but a lot of the more modern versions have network connectivity. That's a fine feature if you're in need, but it's an extra expense if you never really planned on looking to the Web for content in the first place.

Western Digital has offered a number of media streamers over the years, with their latest box having no access to the Internet at all. It's a basic, stripped-down version of the WD TV Live Plus, with the WD Elements Play having no integrated Wi-Fi and no Ethernet port. Instead, it can be filled with a 1TB or 2TB hard drive, which should give users plenty of internal space for keeping their favorite multi-media clips, family photos, etc.

It also offers 1080p output via HDMI, a USB 2.0 port for easily transferring local files and support for most major file formats including MKV, H.264, RMVB, VOB/ISO, etc. It's basically a media streamer without the "streamer," but no price has been placed on it yet. We're guessing it will be sold for something under similar network-enabled units, though.

An easy, affordable way to supersize your movies and photos on your big-screen TV, and play your music collection on your home entertainment center. Simply connect the drive to the TV and you’re ready to enjoy all your digital media in Full-HD 1080p resolution.

Product Features

Full-HD 1080p resolution - Experience spectacular Full-HD video picture quality and crystal-clear DTS 2.0 digital audio. The HDMI port lets you connect to the highest quality HDTV or home theater.
Plenty of room for your media collection - The built-in high capacity hard drive offers room for tons of media. If you need more space, plug USB drives into the available ports.
Supports a wide variety of file formats - Most popular formats are supported including RMVB, H264, and MKV.
Camera compatible - Connect your digital camera or camcorder and play or transfer content from your camera to the drive.
Easy, intuitive user interface - Simple, intuitive and beautiful, the user interface provides the following navigation options:

    * DVD navigation with complete menu navigation, chapter listings, special features, and subtitles
    * Photo slideshow with unique transitions and music on your HDTV
    * Supports photo thumbnails, video cover art and music album art
    * Music playlist support for PLS, M3U, WPL file types
    * Preview your video during navigation
    * Multi-language subtitle support for video playback

Automatic play - Set the player to play a selected media file automatically when the unit is turned on. Perfect for living art on your HD TV or for digital signage.
Composite video connection - Composite (RCA) outputs ensure compatibility with virtually all television sets.
Digital optical audio - High fidelity audio or pass-through digital audio signal to your AV receiver for surround sound experience. Supports SPDIF and Dolby Digital native playback.

AT&T Hints At End Of iPhone Exclusivity In New SEC Report
Are you ready for an iPhone on Verizon Wireless? Who isn't, right? At this point, the rumor has gone on so long that it feels like it'll never come true. But it simply has to at some point, doesn't it? The original contract between Apple and AT&T ensured that no other carrier in America would get their phone for a long, long time, but it has been rather unclear as to exactly how long we would have to wait for that contract to expire. And things couldn't be lining up any nicer if Verizon wanted it to.

Verizon is gearing up to launch a nationwide LTE (4G) network in the U.S. next year. And the iPhone will be in the clear to be on Verizon next year. Well, we think. Here's the thing: AT&T has been extremely quiet about the agreement for as long as it has been in place. No one on the outside knows for sure when and how it will end. But everyone knows what the end will lead to: an iPhone for another carrier. Verizon is the obvious choice, and now AT&T has finally shed the slightest bit of light on when the contract may finally expire.

Recently, the company's SEC filing made a note that said they don't expect to suffer "a material negative impact... as these exclusivity arrangements end." They don't say exactly which exclusive contract they're talking about, but let's get real: there's only one possibility here, and that's the iPhone. No other phone on AT&T's lineup is worthy of being mentioned in an SEC report. No other phone can affect AT&T's bottom line like the iPhone. It's just obvious from here. The report goes on to say: " We believe offering a wide variety of handsets reduces dependence on any single handset," which again, alludes strongly to the iPhone.

If AT&T's talking this now, that really only means one thing: the end is nigh, and the Verizon iPhone has to be on the horizon. Now, the only question is will or will it not be LTE-capable? Let the next round of rumors begin!

RIM Confirms New BlackBerry Curve 3G Smartphone
Late last week a Canadian wireless provider posted RIM's upcoming BlackBerry Curve 3G (previously known as the Curve 9300) for sale, and today Research In Motion (RIM) is making the device official. RIM's press release doesn't bring a whole lot to the table that wasn't already leaked, but the company did say the Curve 3G will ship with the BlackBerry 5 OS and will be upgradeable to BlackBerry 6, the upcoming OS that RIM hopes will put it back on the smartphone radar.

"The majority of people in the worldwide mobile phone market have yet to buy their first smartphone and the BlackBerry Curve 3G is designed to provide an extremely attractive and accessible choice that will help convince many of them to make the leap," said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at Research In Motion. "The new BlackBerry Curve 3G is a perfect choice for happily busy people who are looking for a user-friendly 3G smartphone to help them make the most of their day and to stay connected with their friends, family and co-workers."

The big feature here is obviously the support for 3G on GSM-based networks, a first for BlackBerry devices, which in the past have been saddled with 2.5G EDGE for wireless data. T-Mobile will be first out of the gates with the Curve 3G in the "coming weeks," while AT&T will follow soon after.

Sticking true to BlackBerry form, the Curve 3G will sport a full QWERTY keyboard and optical trackpad. It will also come with built-in GPS, Wi-Fi, dedicated media keys, a microSD/SDHC slot with support for up to 32GB memory cards, a 320x240 color display, 2MP camera, and 256MB of internal memory.

Any RIM fans planning on picking one of these up?

ZOTAC Introduces H55ITX-C-E SFF Motherboard With USB 3.0, Core i7 Support
ATX, ITX, so many platforms to remember! But here's something that's not hard to remember: "mini" means small, so you can rest easy knowing that ZOTAC's newest platform is meant for tiny PCs. The company has just introduced their newest Mini-ITX platform, the H55-ITX WiFi (H55ITX-C-E), which adds USB 3.0 and enhanced power delivery to the fold.

This new unit is a refresh of the H55ITX-A-E, and the primary additions here are support for Intel Core i7-800 processors and a revised power delivery system that features passive heatsinks. Carsten Berger, marketing director, ZOTAC International, had this to say about the new gear: "We see a trend where gamers are moving towards small form factor systems but want high-end CPUs and graphics cards. With the updated ZOTAC H55-ITX WiFi (H55ITX-C-E, gamers can build a complete small form factor system with a high-end Intel Core i7 800 series processor and a ZOTAC GeForce GTX 400-series graphics card."

There's no doubt that small is in, even in the gaming world. SFF PCs are thriving, and those needing to build a LAN party machine would definitely give something like this consideration. The addition of two USB 3.0 ports is a huge bonus considering just how rare they are even today, and of course, putting a Core i7 CPU into the mix will also put a few benchmarks to shame. The full specifications list is below, but no pricing information is being given just yet.

3rd Annual Gigabyte Open Overclocking Championship 2010 With Video
We love the summer. This is normally the time of year where folks get out and enjoy the sun, take the family to the beach, or load up the car for a trip to the amusement park. But for a small group of elite overclocking enthusiasts, it's GO OC time.  The 3rd Annual Gigabyte Open Overclocking Championship was held this past weekend at the Pacific Palm Golf Resort in sunny southern California. It's where twelve of the biggest names of the extreme overclocking scene get together and battle it out, locked in the same room, provided identical hardware components, and given a time limit to produce the fastest benchmark results. Who needs to go outside and enjoy the weather?  We've got two full tanks of liquid nitrogen to burn through!

If you're not up to date on the latest competitive overclocking news, here's the scoop. GO OC is an annual competition consisting of several events held all over the world. Regional finals are held in North America, Asia/Africa, China, Europe, and Latin America. The North American competition is the last one before all of the winners are flown to the World Finals, held in Taiwan at the end of September. Although there are some really nice prizes available for regional finalists, the championship in Taiwan is where glory is eventually earned.

The components used by each contestant consisted of the following:
  • Intel Core i7 980X Extreme Edition Processor
  • Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 Motherboard
  • GV-N240D5-512I Graphics Card
  • Kingston KHX2250C9D3T1FK3/6GX Memory
  • Kingston SNV425-S2/64GB SSD
  • Thermaltake Toughpower Series Power Supply
  • Gigabyte Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor

The competitors had a few hours in the morning to set up. Official benchmark runs started after lunch and lasted most of the day. Each region decides on the tests that are chosen for their event. Here, the focus was on CPU and memory overclocking, with the use of Pifast, wPrime, SuperPi, and Maxmem. In the end, sno.lcn earned the top spot, followed closely by mikeguava in second place. Some highlights from the event are shown in the video above. Both winning competitors will represent North America in the World Finals. Good luck fellas!
