Buyer Beware: Misleading HDMI Cable Labels
Disclaimer: There is not a single one of you out there that doesn't know about the HDMI cable hustle. But, we all have friends and family members that believe the marketing hype and unless they see it in black and white, they won't believe it. Feel free to share this link with "them." Have you seen HDMI cables online or in stores labeled "120 Hz," "240Hz" and "480 Hz"? It's easy enough to slap such labels on HDMI cables but it's a sham. HDMI cables can no more be manufactured for specific refresh-rate HDTVs than a garden hose can be manufactured specifically to water seeded lawns and sod lawns. The same water flows through either one. The same HDTV signal flows through all HDMI cables, whether labeled "120Hz" or "480Hz" — or not labeled at all. Comments

Intel's Vision: Enhance Security via Hardware
C|Net has posted an interview with Renee J. James, senior vice president and general manager of the Software and Services Group at Intel. The interview covers the recent announcement that Intel is buying McAfee for $7.68B. James is responsible for delivering software products and support across for Intel's product lines. In addition, she is responsible for the Intel worldwide developer programs as well as R&D for next-generation software. James is also chairman of two Intel subsidiaries: Wind River Systems and Havok, both of which report into the Software and Services Group. Comments

Pirate Bay Typo Squatter Trying To Seize Site Trademark
Hahaha! C'mon, you have to admit this is pretty damn funny. This Wednesday a security blog reported that several rogue sites are in operation which aim to pull in people who were aiming to reach The Pirate Bay, but accidentally entered the URL with typos. While this kind of activity is nothing new, there is a more interesting detail being overlooked. One of the companies behind the scheme is trying to register the Pirate Bay trademark in the United States. Comments
