Corsair H70 CPU Cooler - First Install
We installed that new Corsair H70 CPU cooler in our Quiet Fermi Build today, replacing the Corsair H50. While this is not the full review, this does give you an idea what our initial experience with the Corsair H70 was like. We are using a Silverstone Raven RV02 chassis that has become the heart and soul of our latest Fermi build, but we will get to more on that later next week. We had previously installed a Corsair H50 for our CPU cooler. We are running an Intel Core i7 980X processor at 4GHz with a vCore of about 1.32v. Comments

Google Denies Net Neutrality Deal
Google Public Policy has issued an outright denial of the New York Times article posted earlier today. @NYTimes is wrong. We've not had any convos with VZN about paying for carriage of our traffic. We remain committed to an open internet. Comments

Most Consumers Support Government Cyber-Spying
Most consumers support government cyber-spying? I think they meant "don't support." Seriously, by a show of hands, how many of you think it is okay for a government to spy on you? Nearly two thirds of computer users globally believe that it is acceptable for their country to spy on other nations by hacking or installing malware, according to Sophos's mid-year 2010 Security Threat Report, with 23 percent claiming to support this action even during peace time. LucasFilm Backpedals on Light Saber Lawsuit
You'll be happy to know that lawyers from LucasArts have decided to retract the cease and desist letter they sent to Wicked Lasers last month. You can read the original story here. Wicked Laswers' CEO received a letter from LucasFilm, saying that as long as the company puts a disclaimer (saying something in the vain of "Hey, this isn't a LightsaberÂ…") on any product materials for the Spyder III Pro Arctic, that they won't go after them and basically ruin their day. The letter came from LucasFilm's General Counsel, David J. Anderman, and goes on to say, "The media and public has come to realize that Lucasfilm would never endorse or license a highly dangerous product such as your Arctic Pro Laser." Comments

Google and Verizon Sign Net Neutrality Agreement
Why can I just picture both these companies saying "in before the lock!" The compromise as described would restrict Verizon from selectively slowing Internet content that travels over its wires, but wouldn't apply such limits to Internet use on mobile phones, according to the people, who spoke yesterday and asked not to be identified before an announcement. Internet Quote of the Day
Quote of the day goes to one of the CEOs of Research In Motion. It takes balls to tell a country to "deal with the internet or shut it off." "This is about the Internet," Mr. Lazaridis said. "Everything on the Internet is encrypted. This is not a BlackBerry-only issue. If they can't deal with the Internet, they should shut it off." Comments

Should Videotaping the Police Really Be a Crime?
Thinking about putting that video of a traffic stop up on YouTube? You should think twice before you do, you could go to jail for it. Doesn't seem right, does it? Law enforcement is fighting back. In the case of Graber — a young husband and father who had never been arrested — the police searched his residence and seized computers. Graber spent 26 hours in jail even before facing the wiretapping charges that could conceivably put him away for 16 years. Comments

Facebook Divorce of the Day
If you are going to post pictures of your wedding on Facebook, make sure your current wife doesn't see them. But in the age of Facebook and Twitter and lightning-fast communication, the notion of privacy is fast becoming obsolete. From flirtatious text messages to incriminating e-mails, marital indiscretions are much easier to track — especially if potentially damaging photographic evidence is posted online. Comments

Wave Goodbye to Google Wave
Google has pulled the plug on Google Wave. The search giant cited poor user adoption but said they will maintain the site at least through the end of the year. But despite these wins, and numerous loyal fans, Wave has not seen the user adoption we would have liked. We don't plan to continue developing Wave as a standalone product, but we will maintain the site at least through the end of the year and extend the technology for use in other Google projects. The central parts of the code, as well as the protocols that have driven many of Wave's innovations, like drag-and-drop and character-by-character live typing, are already available as open source, so customers and partners can continue the innovation we began. Not All Billing Errors Are Bad
How many companies do you know of that admit to overcharging you and then offer a $400 refund? I can't think of many. Kudos to DirectTV for doing the right thing. I probably should have paid more attention to the bill, but I missed it from the very beginning. DirecTV issued me a credit on my statement for over $400 and even offered to cut me a check if I preferred to have the money right away. Not sure if mine was a rare case or maybe DirecTV discovered that this was happening to many more customers. Either way, they came through with a nice resolution. Comments
