LaCie intros rugged, waterproof XtremKey USB flash drive
LaCie has announced a new flash drive capable of withstanding pressure, heat, water and drops, keeping your data safe as you go on the harshest of environments. Dubbed XtremKey, the PC and Mac compatible drive is housed inside a 2mm thick pipe casing made from a zinc, aluminum, magnesium and copper alloy called zamac, while the shell itself is sealed with a rubber O-ring and wear-resistant screw threads for maximum protection.

Walmart opens preorders on $199 Microsoft Kinect bundle
For the 31% of you who said you'd purchase the Microsoft Kinect, opportunity has come knocking well ahead of the November release date. Walmart is taking preorders on a $199 bundle that includes the camera motion controller, one $60 launch game, and a $30 Walmart online gift card. The Kinect itself is expected to fetch about $150, so you're supposedly getting a launch game for around "half off" – or that's what they want you to think, anyway.

Intel posts record quarter, revenue up 34%
Intel announced its second-quarter earnings today, with sales and profits amounting to "the best quarter in the company's 42-year history," according to CEO Paul Otellini. Chipzilla squashed analysts' expectations, posting net income of $2.9 billion on revenue of $10.8 billion – a substantial increase from the same quarter in 2009, when the company recorded a loss of $398 million and revenue was 34% lower. Those results were deeply affected by a $1.45 billion fine courtesy of the EU.

California continues effort to limit violent game sales
The state of California has been trying for years to level consequences against businesses that sell violent video games to minors. The current law (California AB 1179) was established in 2005 and criminalizes the sale or rental of games to minors under the penalty of a $1,000 fine.

Sprint mulling LTE adoption, T-Mobile merger
Speaking with the Financial Times, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse has expressed interest in adopting LTE technology in the near future, which could lead to a merger with T-Mobile USA. The operators reportedly considered combining forces in 2008, but ultimately determined that their technology roadpaths weren't compatible: Sprint was focused on WiMAX while T-Mobile was eyeing LTE.

Model N73JN-X1 is currently available through Newegg for $1,000 and offers a 1600x900 display, a 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 450M processor, an Nvidia GeForce GT 335M with 1GB of DDR3 VRAM, 4GB of DDR3 1066MHz system memory (supports up to 8GB), a 500GB 7200RPM hard drive, and a DVD burner.

iPhone 4 complaints get louder, Apple censors discussions
What was touted as the most successful product launch in Apple's history has quickly turned into a PR nightmare. Shortly after the much anticipated iPhone 4 went on sale, a number of blogs uncovered a problem with device's antenna -- simply touching a spot on the phone's lower left side could cause the signal to significantly degrade. Apple downplayed the issue claiming that the iPhone was erroneously calculating and displaying reception bars, promising that a fix was on the way. But that's not expected to do much in the way of avoiding lost signal.
