LG to launch Windows Phone 7 mobile phones this year
South Korea's LG Electronics will launch its first smartphone designed around Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 software by the end of September and will follow with more by the end of the year, a company representative said Wednesday.
Photos of one of the LG smartphones have already been shown off by a number of enthusiast blogs. That phone is ready to go, according to LG.

AT&T to be 'premier' Windows Phone 7 vendor
Say all you want about whether Windows Phone 7 (WP7) will succeed, but AT&T continues to back the platform wholeheartedly after endorsing it -- and Microsoft 's mobile efforts -- repeatedly over the last year. "We'll be the premier carrier for Windows Phone 7," a spokeswoman said Monday. "We haven't given guidance on timing."

Open source Razorback project targets malware, zero-day exploits
Sourcefire, best known for its Snort intrusion-prevention technology, Tuesday is unveiling a new open source project called Razorback that's designed to spot malware and especially zero-day exploits.
"We want others to test it to see if our idea about this new protection framework is as innovative as we think it is," says Matt Watchinski, senior director on the Sourcefire vulnerability research team.

Apple sued over iPad overheating
Apple was sued last week over claims that its iPad easily overheats, then suddenly switches itself off.
In a complaint filed with an Oakland, Calif. federal court last Friday, a trio of plaintiffs accused Apple of everything from fraud and deceptive advertising to violations of California's consumer protection and unfair business practices laws by making, marketing and selling allegedly defective tablets.

Google Android Market looks to protect apps
Extending protection against unauthorized use of applications, stewards of the Google-backed Android mobile platform Tuesday unveiled a licensing service for applications in the Android Market.
The free service provides a secure mechanism to manage access to Android Market paid applications targeting Android 1.5 or higher, said Eric Chu, of the Android Developer Ecosystem, in a post on the Android Developers Blog.
