IBM to Take on Jeopardy
IBM once built a supercomputer to challenge chess champion Garry Kasparov. Deep Blue won that match, and now IBM hopes that Watson can do the same. The game this time is Jeopardy, the game chosen by IBM to design a "better question-answering machine." Watson will appear on the Jeopardy television show, possibly this fall, and will face off against Jeopardy champions. I'm sure that Ken Jennings will be among them. Extensive voice recognition and search technology has gone into developing Watson, and the question and answer format of Jeopardy should be a great exercise.
