Navy Shoots Down Plane With Really Big Raygun
Check out the Navy's new laser weapon system or "LaWS" as they like to call it. This thing is so powerful and accurate that it was able to shoot down an unmanned aerial vehicle in a "combat representative scenario." In a red-letter week for the military, the Naval Sea Systems command "successfully tracked, engaged, and destroyed" several unmanned aircraft with its Laser Weapon System, otherwise known as LaWS. and on the ground, iRobot unveiled its gift to the Pentagon -- the 710 Warrior designed to clear an entire 45 square meter minefield in one blow. Wow...this guy must really hate correspondence. A cease and desist letter over two e-mail?!? Sending AT&T's CEO two emails in two weeks results in a phone call from AT&T's Executive Response Team and a warning that further emails will result in a cease and desist letter. What did Giorgio's emails say? The first was a request to bump up his iPhone eligibility date and a request for a tethering option, and today's outlined his displeasure with AT&T's new data rates and ultimate decision to switch to Sprint and the EVO 4G. Court Examining Gizmodo Computers for iPhone Info
It looks like the authorities have finally gotten around to examining the computers seized in the infamous iPhone raid. Damn, imagine it was your computer being searched...what the would the cops find? Stephen Wagstaffe, chief deputy district attorney for San Mateo County, told CNET on Wednesday that a court there had appointed a "special master" to search the items seized from the home of Jason Chen in late April. The court has asked the special master to collect only information that pertains to Gizmodo's dealings with an iPhone prototype that the blog purchased for $5,000. Comments

FTC Cracks Down on Spyware Seller
After two long years, the Federal Trade Commission has finally reached a settlement with a spyware vendor that sold keylogging software. To prevent its program from being used illegally, CyberSpy must make changes to it to prevent surreptitious installation, and "encrypt data transmitted over the Internet, police their affiliates to ensure they comply with the order, and remove legacy versions of the software from computers," the FTC said in a statement.
