Microsoft details early Windows 8 improvements to OEMs
It might seem a little early to be worrying about Windows 8 (or whatever the next iteration of Windows will be called), but it appears that Microsoft are already appraising OEMs of some of their plans for their next-generation Operating Systems according to leaked documents which have made their way online.
Francisco Martin, a Microsoft Enthusiast, posted several confidential pieces of information to his blog on Monday revealing improvements that Microsoft is aiming for with Windows 8. Microsoft is planning to enable next generation high speed connectivity solutions such as USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 3.0 within Windows 8. Microsoft's key area of focus appears to be performance and instant-on systems. "Windows 8 PC's turn on fast, nearly instantly in some cases, and are ready to work without any long or unexpected delays. When customers want to check e-mail, sports scores, or play media they love to reach for their PCs because they can get to what they want quickly."
In what appears to be suggestions to OEMs, Microsoft details Windows 8 investments under consideration. Focusing on POST performance, S3 resume performance and general performance optimizations for each of the Off states are the key areas of improvement that Microsoft is aiming for with Windows 8 and Windows 8 enabled PCs.

Asustek plans to outsource some production to ECS
Asustek continue to lead the way over other similar companies in terms of the sheer quantity of parts they produce and sell, a fact which forces them to outsource some of this workload to other companies. In this vein, it looks as though ECS will soon be added to the list of firms who take on production of some of Asustek's range of motherboards and graphics boards.
Asustek Computer reportedly plans to outsource some of its production of motherboards and graphics cards to rival company Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) as part of efforts to expand its outsourcing policy to reduce its dependence on Pegatron Technology, while boosting its profitability, according to industry sources.
Asustek declined to comment on market reports, although the company has recently accelerated its outsourcing strategy by adding Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) and Quanta Computer as its production partners for notebooks and Eee PCs and also including Foxconn as its OEM maker of Garmin-Asus smartphones.
