JPR: Nvidia back on track, shipped 400,000 Fermi cards
vr-zone.com - Jon Peddie, head of Jon Peddie Research, estimates that Nvidia have shipped over 400,000 Fermi based Geforce and Tesla cards to date, corroborating Jen-Hsun Huang's recent announcement that Nvidia had shipped "a few hundred thousand" GPUs. By disabling 1 SM in the GTX 480 and 2 SM in the Tesla C2050, Nvidia has been able to increase yields substantially.
Jon Peddie said, "I think most of Nvidia's problems are behind and they are back on track. You will see a whole slew of derivative products in the next few months."

[Rumour] Nvidia preparing dual-GF104
vr-zone.com - As expected, there will be no dual-GF100 card, as it is simply impractical, given the single GF100 pushes the barriers of PCI-e thermals. While the "TDP" is specified as 250W, reviews have seen actual "peak power" is approx. 300W, which is the limit for PCI SIG certified cards. However, Fudzilla is now reporting that Nvidia is preparing a dual GPU iteration of its upcoming GF104 chip.
While GF104 was long expected to be a derivative of GF100, recent rumours suggest it might be a reworked Fermi 2 card.

Intel's mobile Core CPU shortage in full force
vr-zone.com - It was rumoured way back in February that Acer had "over-ordered" Intel's Arrandale Core 2010 mobile CPUs, leading to market-wide shortages which would hit in March. Part of these rumours came to be true, as by the end of March, there was a shortage in supply of Arrandale CPUs. These shortages were expected to last through April, but moving to mid-May, Converge reports that the shortage has hit full-force, depleting stocks and increasing prices.

Nvidia: We shipped a "few hundred thousand" Fermi GPUs
vr-zone.com - Just a few weeks ago, Nvidia's first Fermi cards - Geforce GTX 470 and GTX 480 released to a mixed reception and wide unavailability. Rumours suggested that GF100 had yields of 20-30%, and less than 10,000 units had been shipped. These rumours were backed by facts for most of April. However, earlier this month, Nvidia turned things around, with the GTX 400 cards returning with wide availability.
Now, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang is painting a bright future for Nvidia: "With our new Fermi-class GPUs in full production, Nvidia's key profit drivers are fully engaged. We shipped a few hundred thousand Fermi processors into strong consumer demand. Our Quadro business for workstations grew strongly, fueled by pent up demand from enterprise customers and new growth markets like video editing. And we had record revenue from Tesla processors for high-end servers".
