Asus has given a last breath of life to the 8.9-inch netbook market by announcing its Eee PC 900AX. Although it has a new 900AX name, it is still an old netbook that gives Asus a chance to empty its inventory of 8.9-inch screens and Atom N270 processors.

Jobs says Ogg Theora may violate patents
Apple chief Steve Jobs has warned in a reply to an open latter that Ogg Theora wouldn't necessarily be the best choice for HTML5 video. Addressing a call by Free Software Foundation Europe to use the open-source codec for plugin-free video, Jobs warned that it may infringe on patents and could face a lawsuit, though not necessarily from Apple. He suggested that H.264 fit the definition of an open standard and admitted it wasn't necessarily what open-source advocates would expect.

Antec has refreshed its line of notebook coolers with the launch of three new models; the Notebook Cooler Designer (picture one), Notebook Cooler Basic (picture two) and Notebook Cooler Mini (picture three). Taking a change of direction from the hideous solutions of yesterday, the sleek-looking Designer model is a slim, lightweight cooler that Antec reckons is ideal for fitting comfortably on a lap . Sony prepares HDTVs with Intel chips and Android OS
Sony, the ex-number one TV maker that has seen recent declines in sales, will begin launching new HDTVs with Intel processors and running the Android operating system, say Internet sources. The electronics giant will unveil the products at an event in San Francisco on May 19th, a conference sponsored by Google, the company behind Android.
