Nvidia introduces 4-way SLI
Anything more than 2 GPUs in multi-GPU mode may sound excessive and too exotic. Not for Nvidia, as their latest driver unlocks 4-way SLI for all Geforce GTX 400 cards. This is not the first time 4 Nvidia cards have worked in tandem, however, with EVGA's Classified series motherboard and GPUs offering 4-way SLI support for the GTX 285. Curiously - GTX 400 worked fine in 4-way SLI mode on an EVGA Classified motherboard without the need for special Classified GPUs - showcasing the possibility of GTX 400 4-way SLI. This has been confirmed now as the GTX 400 series products will be compatible with any SLI motherboard with 4 PCI-e slots.

Analysts: Nvidia Geforce GTX 400 yields 20-30%;
The unthinkable rumours are being all but confirmed. Financial analysts from Needham and Company claim that Nvidia has less than 10,000 cards worldwide at the moment (all sold out, presumably) with yields of 20%-30%. Things could have been even worse, perhaps hitting the "<20%" rumour had GTX 480 shipped with all 512 SP enabled.
In an analysis to their clients, analyst Ravindra Gill wrote - We are downgrading Nvidia to a hold and removing our 12-month price target (was $22) after a series of channel checks indicating that Fermi is not ramping well and there could be further product delays. Based on our findings, Nvidia has very limited supply of Fermi desktop/notebook parts and yields remain poor at around 20-30%.
