AMD announces FirePro V8800 Workstation GPU
Long after ATI's release of the Radeon HD 5800 series, they are finally covering up the Workstation market - which has been filled by rather aging products based on the last generation GT200 and RV770 respectively.

The FirePro V8800 is based on the Cypress GPU and is the Workstation sibling of the Radeon HD 5870. On paper, the 1600 SP 2.6 TFlops product is easily the fastest out there - pending Nvidia's Fermi based Quadro products.

[Rumour] Nvidia Fermi codenames GF104 and GF119 emerge
The first codename, GF104, has been doing rounds in the rumour mill ever since GF100 was first announced. Simply put, it will be the GTS 400 series, or, GTX 400/GF100 roughly cut in half. It has been rumoured for 256 shaders. However, the "uncore" part, i.e. memory interface, ROPs, etc. are likely to end up closer to GTX 400, than half.

GF104 is likely to be sized at 300+ mm2, around the same as Cypress, which is a whole class higher. Performance for the top part is expected to be somewhere around the HD 5830. That brings us on to the more interesting codename - GF119.
