Activision Files Counter Suit Against Infinity Ward
The founders of Infinity Ward, the studio behind the popular Call of Duty franchise, filed a lawsuit against parent company Activision a while back. They claimed that large amounts of bonus money were owed to them by Activision for how well Modern Warfare 2 performed, but were fired so the money didn't need to be paid out. Activision has now filed its own suit, claiming that the two founders were in talks with its “closest competitor,” presumed to be EA. Additionally, Activision claims that the IW heads blocked the bonuses due to other IW employees so they would be able to steal them when the new studio was formed. The lawyer for the founders has come forward and disputed the claims made by Activision. It will be interesting to see how this story turns out in the future.

Palm CEO Believes Pre is Better than Droid
The CEO of Palm, Jon Rubinstein, believes that his company's phone, the Pre, is better than Motorola's Droid. He does not give any hard details as to why the Pre is the better phone, just that it is. Rubinstein also believes that if the Pre had launched on Verizon before the Droid, the Pre would have been the more successful one. As it stands now, the Pre is not doing so hot on Verizon saleswise. Not to mention the fact that Palm itself is slowly spiraling downhill with the possibilty of a buyout being the best solution. Also, the marketing campaign for the Pre has not been the best either and I have only recently seen some Verzion advertisements for the phone, so maybe that has something to do with the minimal success of the Pre.
But you never know, if the Pre had launched in November and not the Droid, could it have been the popular phone? Or would things have stayed the same no matter what? I suppose only more time will tell the answer to that.

AMD Announces Turbo CORE
By now, I am sure everyone is familiar with Intel's Turbo Boost technology which can dynamically overclock one or more cores based on the needs of your system. Now, it appears that AMD is going to have a similar feature in its upcoming desktop CPUs called Turbo CORE. Turbo CORE works on the same principle as Turbo Boost, but it sounds to be a cruder implementation.
With Turbo CORE, when three or more cores become idle and the processor's power consumption drops below a certain level, the CPU will underclock the idle cores by a fixed amount and then overclock the active cores by a fixed amount. This means that the CPU is always going to be running at an overclocked or stock clocked level - there is no underclocked level for the active cores. The idle cores do not go into a sleep mode but rather are just underclocked a few hundred megahertz. Like I said, its a very crude way to do it but it will get the job done.
In order for it to compete with Intel's technology, AMD would need to work in multiple power levels for the cores instead of the crude system it developed. Nonetheless, Turbo CORE will make its appearance in the upcoming Phenom II X6 processors when those launch. No word was announced on the launch date of the Phenom II X6 parts, just the Turbo CORE technology.
