
Zalman introduces new Radeon HD 5800-series cooler
Zalman is now giving AMD's partners another choice when it comes to cooling reference Radeon HD 5800-series cards. The just-announced VF3000A sports twin 92mm fans that spin between 1,300rpm and 2,500rpm, with a maximum noise level of 32dBA. The cooler uses a copper heatsink allied to five copper heatpipes which are in turn connected to an array of aluminium fins. Downward pressure from the fans also cools the card's memory chips and power-regulation components.

Lenovo launches ultra-thin netbook and an NVIDIA Ion nettop
Lenovo added a pair of Atom-based PCs to its mix that add relatively new technology for the company. The IdeaPad S10-3s is one of the thinnest netbooks yet at about 0.63 inches thick and also makes use of the same design techniques borrowed from the ThinkPad Edge. It carries the same rounded chiclet keys and a trackpad that runs to the lip, in this case using a MacBook-style buttonless design that clicks the pad itself.

AMD releases ATI FirePro with DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.0
AMD launched the ATI FirePro V8800, supporting hardware tessellation and other DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.0 features as the Radeon HD 5000 series, but with workstation-optimized hardware and software. The core pushes up to 2.6 teraflops of computing power and becomes especially convenient for pros with Eyefinity, as even a single card has four DisplayPort outputs that can combine to form larger-resolution virtual displays.

LG GD880 with first non-smartphone HTML5 browser
LG officially launched the GD880 with a surprise software feature in store. The device is the only non-smartphone on the market with an HTML5 web browser, nicknamed Phantom, and can see Gmail or other advanced pages with accuracy approaching the Android and iPhone browsers. It is similary based on WebKit platform and loads pages (up to 10) much more quickly than usual browsers in the class.
