Epicor ships update of flagship ERP app

Epicor on Wednesday announced a new version of its flagship ERP (enterprise resource planning) application that it says is packed with features meant to help customers as business rebounds from the global recession.

Epicor 9.05's new features fall into three general categories: industry-specific tools, such as an upgraded project management module; improvements to financial management capabilities; and a mobile reporting framework aimed at casual business users.

Developers get their first look at MeeGo OS

Developers got their first look at MeeGo on Wednesday, with the release of key components of the as-yet unfinished operating system.

MeeGo is a mobile version of Linux that will merge Intel's Moblin OS with Nokia's Maemo OS. It's designed to be used in smartphones, handheld computers, and netbooks. The first devices based on the OS are expected later this year.

Oracle adds pharmaceutical focus to CRM on Demand

Microsoft's fuzzing botnet finds 1,800 Office bugs

Microsoft uncovered more than 1,800 bugs in Office 2010 by tapping into the unused computing horsepower of idling PCs, a company security engineer said today.

Office developers found the bugs by running millions of "fuzzing" tests, said Tom Gallagher, senior security test lead with Microsoft's Trustworthy Computing group.
