Microsoft Reportedly Considering Xbox TV Channel For Xbox LIVE Users
Are game consoles the next set-top box? Five years ago, no one would've ever believed that the Nintendo 64 or PlayStation 2 could ever become someone's primary source of in-home entertainment, but now, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 definitely have that capability. Between the two, users can watch DVDs, Blu-ray Discs, Web programming, movies, TV shows and of course, play games. That's an awful lot of entertainment, but more could be on the way for Microsoft's console. In a never-ending bid to one-up "the other

Huge 30 Year Cellphone Study Starts To Research Link With Disease
At last. We were beginning to wonder when a full-scale, no-holds barred cell phone study would be launched to investigate the pros (but mostly cons) of using a mobile long-term, and it seems that 2010 is the year. Small-scale studies have been conducted ever since wireless phones became a commodity, but up until now, no company had decided to study things long-term. It's being called the biggest study on cell phone health effects ever, and any study that will take three decades to complete probably qualifies

Huge 30 Year Cellphone Study Starts To Research Link With Disease
At last. We were beginning to wonder when a full-scale, no-holds barredcell phone study would be launched to investigate the pros (but mostlycons) of using a mobile long-term, and it seems that 2010 is the year.Small-scale studies have been conducted ever since wireless phonesbecame a commodity, but up until now, no company had decided to studythings long-term. It's being called the biggest study on cell phonehealth effects ever, and any study that will take three decades tocomplete probably qualifies for "biggest."

The Cohort Study on Mobile Communications(COSMOS) has begun a thirty year look on how the long-term use of cellphones effects disease and health, with cancer and neurological disorders being right in the cross-hairs. Jack Rowley, director of research and sustainability at industry body the GSM Association stated that "one ofthe limitations of research to date is thatwhen you ask people about their mobile phone use say five years agothere's a lot of error," and now that five billion mobile phones are inuse globally, it's the perfect time to bite the bullet and get the realresearch going. To date, the WorldHealth Organization, the American Cancer Society and the NationalInstitutes of Health haven't found any direct link between cell phoneuse and disease, but other smaller investigations have foundconflicting evidence. It will certainly be nice to have a three decadestudy to finally put an end to the debate.

People working in the research have noted that many cancers take 10+years to develop, so studying mobile users long-term is the onlyaccurate way to find out if there's truly a link between the two. Itshould be interesting to see these results in a few years--if directlinks are drawn, will mobile use suddenly go down? Will science createnew technologies that don't harm health? Only (lots of) time will tell.

For those hoping to get a smaller 3D set, you're out of luck here.Panasonic's sets are all 50" or larger, mostly because the "3D effect"is felt more with larger displays. Also, you should know that all ofthese sets rely on Active Shutter Eyewear, and that's not cheap. EachTV comes with a single pair of these glasses, but additional pairs costa whopping $149.95. Other specifications include a 5,000,000:1 contrastratio, THX certification, VIERA CAST Wi-Fi and Skype capabilities, andof course, a native 1080p panel on each. Full details, including ratherhigh price tags, are listed below.

The VIERA VT25 Series was voted “Best of Show” at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show and also received the Consumer Electronics Association’s esteemed 2010 Innovations Award for its innovative 3D technology.

Panasonic’s range of Full HD 3D VIERA Plasma HDTVs, when coupled with Panasonic’s 3D Blu-ray Disc players (DMP- BDT300 and DMP-BDT350) bring a new era of immersive visual entertainment into consumers’ homes, by creating a 3D experience that easily rivals the best that can be seen in cinemas. By delivering a full 1080p-resolution image to each eye, Panasonic’s Full HD 3D technology offers consumers the highest possible visual experience. To enjoy Full HD 3D programming, users wear a stylish and lightweight pair of active-shutter eyewear. The sets are also Full HD TVs that display pristine 1080p content in two dimensions (2D) for conventional HD viewing.

Microsoft Reportedly Considering Xbox TV Channel For Xbox LIVE Users

That's an awful lot of entertainment, butmore could be on the way for Microsoft's console.

In a never-ending bid to one-up "the other guy," Microsoft isreportedly talking behind the scenes of boosting the Xbox LIVE offeringwith a dedicated Xbox TV channel that would provide some originalcontent and some reruns. Details are scant right now, as Microsoft hasyet to officially say these talks are legitimate. So at this point, there's no telling what kind of content would show up, but given justhow diverse the Xbox consumer sector is, there's plenty of room to mixthings up.

The new TV channel would be available exclusively to Xbox 360 ownersand Xbox LIVE users, and according to reports, it would be jointlyowned by Microsoft and former News Corp. president Peter Chernin. Ifthe channel goes through, users may be faced with a $1 to $2 increaseper month in order to finance the channel and the content creation. Thedeal makes a lot of sense when you look at how content delivery istrending. Fewer physical discs are being printer, and more content isbeing distributed over the Internet. Users already flip on their Xbox360 in order to download movies from Xbox Video Store and watchNetflix, so why not give them the option to watch a dedicated Xboxchannel? It may even make PS3 loyalists envious. Now wouldn't that besomething?

Project "Frostbyte" (Loads of pics)

Hey guys I got my case in today and I had in taken apart within 20 mins of getting it through the door. I thought I would start this thread off by posting some pics of the case before I start hacking away at it. This thing is one sexy looking cube and you really got to admire the build and design byt eh people at Lian Li. As I stated I had this thing apart in 20 mins and that's including carrying it upstairs, unpacking it and taking it apart. Enjoy!

Here's a pic of the case still in it's shipping box.

5.25" bay covers, switches, leds and front ports removed. The bay covers just pop out. The switches and leds were held in by plastc inserts which came out fairly easily by pulling on the side tabs. It was easier to remove the switch from the plastic insert while still in the case than the insert came out with ease. The front panel ports came out by removing 2 phillips head screws.

PSU backplate and motherboard backplate removed. both backplates were held in by phillips head screws.

Here's everything I took off

All parts removed on first day
