Corsair Obsidian 700D Chassis Review
The crew at PC Perspective has posted a video review of the Corsair Obsidian 700D Chassis today that is certainly worth checking out. If you are familiar with the 800D already, then imagine that exact design without the four hot-swap hard drive bays on the front and without the window on the side panel. That adds up to about a $50 price difference putting the 700D at about $229 or so when it goes on sale later in April. Comments

At Least One to Fight!
We reported to you how U.S. companies were being sued over selling CPU coolers that use heat pipes last week. We have found out this morning that at least one company is not going to cower to "licensing fee agreements" to make this go away. FrozenCPU has hired the Storm LLP law firm here in Dallas to represent their company. Sound a little bit familiar? Same guys that helped us beat down Infinium Labs when it sued us for $20,0000,000 for reporting the truth to our readers many years ago.

Seagate Ships Portable Drive with 21 Movies
Seagate is now shipping 500GB portable hard drives preloaded with 21 movies. That's the good part. The bad part is that they are all encrypted with DRM and each movie needs a $10 - $15 activation code before they can be played. Well, it was almost a good idea. This is the first time that a storage company has teamed up with a studio to distribute movies in a digital format this way. These movies includes: "Star Trek," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "G.I. Joe," "Shooter," "The Hunt for Red October," "Nacho Libre," and "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius." Comments

Amazon Exec Slams Some in Music Sector
Amazon's senior manager of digital music had a few choice things to say about the music industry, calling some people in the biz a "total pain in the ass." "A few of you have been a total pain in the ass," Scott Ambrose Reilly wrote in a farewell e-mail he sent to colleagues and business associates on Friday, a copy of which was obtained by CNET. Intel Joins Next-Generation WiMAX Initiative
Today, WiMAX ecosystem players including Intel, Alvarion, Beceem, GCT, Motorola, Samsung, Sequans and ZTE announced an initiative focused on accelerating interoperability for the next generation of WiMAX technology, WiMAX 2. Based on the IEEE 802.16m standard, WiMAX 2 builds on the existing 802.16e infrastructure, adding new features, while maintaining backwards compatibility. The technology also meets the International Telecommunications Union requirements for 4G, delivering higher system capacity at peak rates of more than 300 Mbps, lower latency and increased VoIP. These performance gains will help enable WiMAX operators to keep up with the explosive demand for mobile broadband data as media applications become more rich and interactive. Comments

Brain-Like Memristors Could Revolutionize Memory
H.P. has developed brain-like transistors that could shrink chips down to the atomic level. They're not quite ready to make artificial brains yet, but H.P. researchers believe that by 2013 this could be a serious challenger to flash memory. Thanks to [H] reader Archer1212 for the linkage! "A memristor's strength is derived from the fact that it is far simpler than a traditional semiconducting transistor and that it can store information without an electric current. It's also much, much smaller—3-nanometers, compared to 30-40 nanometers in today's most advanced transistors—which is important to note as chipmakers hit a wall in terms of transistor size." Comments

Scientists Transform T-Shirts Into Body Armor
Scientists have discovered a way to create body armor that is both as flexible and lightweight as an ordinary shirt. This sounds like a great alternative to me carrying around a jacket with 18 hard drives in it! By splicing the carbon in the cotton with boron, the third hardest material on the planet, researchers at the University of South Carolina markedly increased the fabric's toughness. The result is a lightweight shirt reinforced with boron carbide—the same material used to shield military tanks. Comments

How to Build a Multi-Touch Surface
Instructables has a pretty nifty how-to on building a multi-touch surface. I'm not really sure what I'd ever use one for, but I still want one nonetheless! "Multi-touch gestures are the latest and greatest way to interact with your computer. However, commercial systems are not widely available and are expensive. Fortunately, you can do it yourself better and for less cost." Comments
