iPad Components Cost $259
If you bought an iPad earlier this week, you should probably avoid reading this article unless you want a bad case of buyer's remorse. Everyone else...feel free to laugh. A midpriced 32 GB version of the iPad that sells for $599 contains $289.10 worth of materials. Nintendo, Google to Release Wii 'Web Search' Game
Let me get this straight, Nintendo and Google teamed up to make a game where gamers generate the most search results. What?!? How does that sound fun? Remove DVD & CD Scratches with Vaseline
Apparently you can use Vaseline and tissues to remove scratches from CDs and DVDs. Whew, after all these years, I finally have a legitimate excuse to have that stuff on my desk. Vaseline (Petroleum Jelly) can be used for chapped lips, dry skin, and for getting rid of head lice; but how about making CDs and DVDs readable again? Well, it does that too. There are also other ways to do this on the Instructables website, but I will show you the one that I believe works best. Comments

AOL Says Bebo Not Worth Saving
AOL says that Bebo, the social networking site they bought for $850 million just two years ago, isn't worth saving. Good luck trying to sell it now after a statement like this: As we evaluate our portfolio of brands against our strategy, it is clear that social networking is a space with heavy competition, and where scale defines success. Bebo, unfortunately, is a business that has been declining and, as a result, would require significant investment in order to compete in the competitive social networking space. AOL is not in a position at this time to further fund and support Bebo in pursuing a turnaround in social networking. Comments

For those of you that haven't done so already, make sure you read our Metro 2033 image quality follow-up article we posted earlier today. After being alerted to a problem with the game's "very high" quality setting, we took another look at the game to get to the bottom of the issue. Hit the link above to see the side by side comparison screenshots and to find out what is actually behind the diminished visual quality in Metro 2033. Gears of War Movie Grinding to a Halt?
It looks like the big screen adaptation of Gears of War is in serious trouble. With the budget being cut way back, story getting chopped down and so on, I can't see how this can be considered anything but bad news. But the studio has now cut the budget, going from a film that would have cost more than $100 million to one that will cost a good chunk less than that. It's also reined in the story, turning it into a more simple, straight-ahead invasion story instead of a sprawling epic. Producers are looking for a new writer to handle all this, but haven't found one yet. And Wiseman, while technically still attached, will likely not be a part of it when all is said and done. In regards to movies like this that have big time directors like Wiseman attached to them (Halo had Peter Jackson / Neill Blomkamp) and the potential to be hugeÂ…you have to wonder why companies like Microsoft don't bankroll these movies themselves. Comcast Offers Payday Loans and Hookers?
Some guy is complaining about being sent to a Comcast office that had hookers outside and did payday loans. And he's complaining? I'll tell you what bill would be paid on time, every time, if they had those services here! The Comcast rep (that I had kept on the phone, in part, for my safety) talked to the cashier herself (I handed the phone through the teller hole in the bulletproof glass) and finally decided that this office couldn't handle enrollments after all and that I should really try a different office. On the way back to may car, I was propositioned by a prostitute. Comments
