Tiny Ear Listens to Hidden Worlds
Scientists are working on new technology to allow researchers to listen in on the workings of micro-organisms. Hopes are to be able to diagnose and track reaction to medication. The micro-ear is based upon modifying an established technology that uses laser light to create so-called optical tweezers. These are already used to accurately measure tiny forces. They work by suspending very small glass or plastic beads in a beam of laser light. Measuring the movement of these beads as they are jostled by tiny objects allows measurements of tiny forces that operate at molecular scales. Comments

Apple's Biggest Fan? Maybe Not
Remember the guy that was first in line (for days) for an iPhone? Well, he's at it again camped out for an iPad. The thing is, he's what they call a "serial line sitter." A what?!?!? How freaky is that? He's been quoted in 100 news stories going back to 1995. He's been called a serial "line sitter" or the media's "designated man on the street." The Associated Press and even NeoCon bombshell Ann Coulter have suggested Packer is a shameless publicity seeker. At the mention of Coulter's name, Packer's expression turns sour: "That Coulter was first to expose me." Comments

I know you guys have a lot to say on this subject so I will step out of the way and let you have at it in the comments section. The Obama administration Thursday expressed "strong support" for legislation that would require radio stations to pay additional royalty fees to singers, marking the administration's first public position on the highly contentious fight between broadcasters and musicians.
