USB Possibilities with iPad Camera Accessory Kit

Rumors are flying that the soon to be shipping iPad Camera Accessory Kit, essentially a USB extension of the tablet's dock connector, could allegedly support USB Audio Class-compliant devices. There is of course no confirmation from Apple nor there's any solid evidence backing up this rumor other than some email correspondences found on audio API developer mailing list hosted by Apple. The prospect of connecting the iPad to any USB speakers or musical instruments would undoubtedly make the camera accessory kit so much more appealing.
A killer application would be allowing USB cameras to transfer HD video to iPad for video editing on the go. Granted, iPad - even the 64GB model - doesn't have a lot of storage, but those compact cams usually save videos in separate files so this is definitely a possibility. Unlike WiFi and Bluetooth, you don't have to bother with the pairing process to 'install' the device. USB allows for much greater flexibility, not to mention universal compatibility with peripherals. But don't get your hopes up just yet, even if the Camera Accessory Kit does talk with USB audio as the rumor suggests, you would still need apps that actually make use of these gadgets. It's very likely Apple would only approve apps to talk with USB audio peripherals bearing the Works for iPad logo.
