Elite Bastards review: Indylab Touch USB 2.0 500GB external hard drive
In a market that is packed to the rafters with external USB 2.0 hard disk drives and drive enclosures, how do you go about making your particular product stand out from the crowd? Korean company Indylab believe they have the answer, and today we examine the result, in the form of their Touch USB 2.0 drive.
Indylab's Touch drive is available in either white, black, pink or red and certainly looks the part, proving to be infinitely more attractive than the ugly boxes that make up many external drives on the market. Despite these good looks, Indylab are still keen to point out the shock absorption properties of the enclosure, which is supposedly tested for shocks up to 200G as well as being specified to handle vibrations, static and radiation to reasonable levels while also deadening any noise coming from the drive within.
As the name of the product would suggest, the Touch makes the most of the touch screen fad by doing away with a simple power button or rocker switch, instead opting for a patented touch interface underneath the company logo on the drive which acts as the on/off switch for the device.
