Axed Infinity Ward creators found Respawn Entertainment

After the fallout of whatever transpired between Activision and Infinity Ward, which caused a number of prominent members of the latter developer to walk out, I suppose it was only going to be a matter of time before a new developer grew up from the shoots of those who had left. It appears that this is exactly what has happened, with today marking the birth of Respawn Entertainment, a new creation from the founders of Infinity Ward who have signed up with EA.

Today, Jason West and Vince Zampella, creators of the multi-billion dollar Call of Duty(R) franchise, announced the formation of a new development studio -- Respawn Entertainment. The move positions the Respawn Entertainment leadership team as the owners of the intellectual property they create. The company will focus on creating state-of-the-art gaming experiences for global audiences. The studio is currently assembling a world-class team of designers, artists and engineers. Applicants can submit resumes to jobs@respawn.com.

Respawn is pleased to also announce that it has awarded Electronic Arts, through the distinguished EA Partners program, exclusive worldwide publishing and distribution rights to future games. Terms were not disclosed. West and Zampella are represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

A new face in the system chassis market - BitFenix

With the competition seemingly continuously hotting up between peripheral manufacturers, today sees the launch of a new company which could bring another exciting twist to the chassis market. Named BitFenix, the company is comprised largely of employees who were formerly part of Cooler Master's Storm brand, before the head of that division Coco Lee decided to move on and set up her own company. BitFenix will initially be launching three chassis to kick off their range of offerings, but for now here's an introduction to company by way of a press release and video.

BitFenix is a new kind of hardware designer. Comprised of both IT and gaming professionals, BitFenix merges the insights and experience of these two groups together to create never-before-seen gaming hardware and peripherals. The BitFenix Team’s core design philosophy is to put the user in complete control of their hardware and this will be achieved through smart engineering, thoughtful design, and some very novel ideas.

In an industry that is filled with me-too products, BitFenix will strive to bring truly innovative products to the scene, and create products that blend seamlessly with the digital lifestyle. Traditional product development is very one-sided, with the company making all the decisions. BitFenix will connect directly with the community in order to bring the products enthusiasts want to life.

"The truth is that users shouldn’t have to adjust to the way their hardware works, which is why we want to give users as much control as possible," said David Jarlestedt, BitFenix Product Manager. "The time has come for true innovation to hit the scene, and I believe we have the experience and know-how to make it happen. And because a product’s form is almost as important as its function, BitFenix products will be crafted to look as good as they work. We are driven to deliver some groundbreaking products, and along with the feedback from the community, I believe our upcoming designs will really cause people to do a double-take."
