When Steve Jobs unveiled the iPad, he pronounced that it was a device designed to fit between the iPhone and Mac. Given the iPad's price and size, it would be easy enough to dismiss this as marketing hype. Now that I've had a few hours with the iPad, however, I have a far better understanding that the "in-between" nature of the iPad runs far deeper than a Keynote presentation and press release.
