Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 13: Not your Father's ThinkPad

Lenovo looks to shake things up in the ThinkPad world with the introduction of the Edge. Available with AMD or Intel CULV processors, the Edge also makes some significant changes to the classic ThinkPad design. If you love the original ThinkPad, you will likely be shocked and dismayed with the new Edge line, which has more in common with the IdeaPad family.

As a CULV platform, the Edge 13 we're reviewing has some stiff competition. Priced at $700 and with few noteworthy benefits, the Edge is going to be a tough sell. The AMD model drops the price to under $500, but unfortunately battery life also plummets, so unless you're dying for a "Heatwave Red" ThinkPad the Edge doesn't have a lot going for it.

Intel DP55KG and DP55SB - Two P55s Reviewed

It’s been a while since AnandTech featured a P55 board review, but while Intel is expanding on their high-end with $1,100 Core i7 980X CPU’s, their low-to-mid-range P55 platform is still the one on most people’s radars. Today’s we’re looking at two Intel P55 boards that fall under Intel’s “Extreme” series, the DP55KG and DP55SB.

Thermalright claims that they got a 32C reduction in the load temperature of a Radeon 5870 in their labs, so let’s put this to the test and see if their latest cooler is as good as they claim it is.

Western Digital's New VelociRaptor VR200M: 10K RPM at 450GB and 600GB

We first laid eyes on Western Digital's Raptor line of 10K RPM desktop hard drives in 2003. The drives were only 36GB in size, but man were they fast. Since then Western Digital has increased capacity, decreased physical platter size (3.5" to 2.5") and overall driven performance up. With the last VelociRaptor dating back to 2008, the line was overdue for an update.

Meet the new VelociRaptor:

Available in 450GB and 600GB capacities at $299 and $329, respectively, the new VR200M keeps the formula mostly unchanged but sees a performance boost thanks to increasing platter density. Can it restore faith to the VelociRaptor line? Read on to find out.
