Intel to update Lynnfield Core i7 800 Series
Intel's Lynnfield line-up currently consists of the Core i5 750, the Core i7 860 and the Core i7 870. While the i5 750 will hold its ground at the $195 price-point, Intel is moving to update its i7 800 series.
As the rumours suggest, the unlocked Core i7 875K is due for release in late Q2 2010. It will be identical to the current $560 Core i7 870, clocked at 2.93 GHz. The big difference will be the unlocked multiplier, enabled easier and higher overclocks. However, the i7 875K, despite the unlocked multiplier, is not intended for the ~$600 P1 segment, rather the $300 MS3 segment.
