
Microsoft talks about first Windows 7 SP1 details
Microsoft yesterday started talking about Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2: the main additions in SP1 that will interest Windows Server users are two new desktop virtualization features, called Microsoft RemoteFX and Dynamic Memory, while on the Windows 7 side there's the updated Remote Desktop client that's based on RemoteFX.

Core i5 680 3.6 GHz to be released in near future
Intel is gearing up to launch its fastest dual-core to date, the 3.6GHz Core i5-680 which is the Clarkdale-based 32nm part with a TDP of 73W, quite impressive considering its high clock. It has 2x256kB of L2 and 4MB of shared L3 cache. Its integrated graphics are clocked at 733MHz and it officially supports dual channel DDR3 1333. We still don't know the exact price or launch date, but it will probably retail around the €240 mark, which is quite pricey for a dual-core, regardless of the clock.

Wintek to be blamed for iPad delays
In a report by Taiwan's Liberty Times on Friday, Wintek was accused of triggering a delay in iPad shipments. A choke point in its touch panel production line has allegedly resulted in few usable panels and stalled Apple's supply as a result. The newspaper didn't say whether this would affect launch volume, although to date Apple still promises shipping for April 3rd. In response, the contract manufacturer has already issued a denial to the Taiwan Stock Exchange that said all production was running properly. However, Wintek also said it couldn't comment on either particular customers like Apple or individual orders.
