Dell debuts the Vostro 3000 line of business laptops
Dell has announced the Vostro 3000 series of small business-oriented laptops which use Intel 32nm Core processors. The new SMB portable PCs introduced by Dell are the 13.3-inch Vostro 3300, the 14-inch 3400, the 15.6-inch 3500 and the 17.3-inch 3700, and they feature Core i3/i5 CPUs (Core i7 options available for the 3700), up to 8GB of RAM, a HDD of up to 500GB, a DVD writer, and Intel integrated graphics, or a GeForce 310M 512MB dedicated graphics card (the GeForce GT 330M 1GB is also, a 3700-only option).

ATIC to own 70% of GlobalFoundies in Q2
Advanced Technology Investment Company is moving ahead with its previously-announced plans to buy more GlobalFoundies stock from AMD, and aims to increase its share in the manufacturing giant to 70%. ATIC's stake now is 68 percent, and will go up to 70 percent in two to three months. The intent is to make sure that Global Foundries is well capitalised and AMD is a buyable player.

Chrome OS to get business-grade edition
A Google software security engineer said at the RSA Conference on Thursday that Google will release a business version of its Chrome OS Netbook operating system in 2011, after the consumer version is released later this year. Will Drewry also revealed the software will have a number of integrated security technologies that will protect users from malware and other threats. All versions will include Trusted Platform Module hardware, which will ensure key storage security and multi-factor authentication.

LED shortage to hit TV industry
iSuppli has issued a warning to manufacturers of LCD televisions about an upcoming shortage of LEDs, which are used for backlighting of some LCD televisions. LEDs provide a much better video imagery for viewers when used in LCD TVs, compared to LCD TVs that utilize fluorescent lamps for backlighting. LCD televisions generally required between 300 and 500 LEDs per panel, all producing a uniform level of brightness. This makes the sector much more vulnerable to an LED shortage than notebook makers for example, as notebooks generally use about 50 LEDs in LCD screens.

Silverstone PSUs: The Three Clones
Silverstone has presented the market with the Strider Plus series. Compared to the previous series, without the “Plus” in the name, the differences are numerous, the biggest one being that the Strider Plus only has one +12V rail, whereas the predecessor had multiple. Important differences don’t end there, because the new series PSUs also sport a 13.5 cm fan, which should, owing to its larger diameter, keep the PSU cool and stable at a lower RPM rate, thus reducing the overall noise emission. DocVerse's offer enables easy real-time sharing and editing of Word, PowerPoint and Excel files via web-based services, and Google has one popular cloudy productivity solution Google Docs.
