Shuttle Unveils Ion 2-Based XS35 Slimline PC
Shuttle is primarily known in the PC industry for their small form factor (SFF) PCs. These tiny boxes are still mighty potent, and they're usually geared towards LAN party gamers who don't want to be bothered with taking their full-size rigs on the road. But as with most every other computer maker, Shuttle is evolving, and as the demands shift, production shifts as well. Announced this week is an all new form factor from Shuttle, one that looks nothing like the rectangular gamer boxes that have made them famous.

Haleron Lowers The Tablet PC Price Bar With $199 iLet Mini HAL
We've said it before, and we'll keep right on saying it: the tablet is back in a big way, but the consumers have yet to have time to actually speak. In other words, only time will tell if people are ready to re-embrace the tablet PC, which was largely rejected years ago as being too bulky, too niche and too expensive. Honestly, this whole marketing push feels a lot like 3D. Consumers never really asked for 3D to make a comeback, but all of a sudden, motion picture producers decided--seemingly across the board--that

iPhone Owners Stage Anti-AT&T Demonstration At Santa Clara U, Might Get Results
The biggest thing that happened at Santa Clara University (from a national perspective) was that season opening win over the UNC-Chapel Hill basketball team that eventually went on to win a National Championship in NCAA Men's Basketball. The biggest thing to happen at Santa Clara University this decade is most likely this: a complaint that's gaining all sorts of national attention. According to a new article in the Chronicle of Higher Education, a slew of iPhone owners at the school are fed up with AT&T's

A Keyboard Designed For Germaphobes
Cold and flu season isn't over yet. For those of you who want to avoid germs at all costs, Cleankeys recently introduced a keyboard that can easily be cleaned from germs. Whereas a traditional keyboard has lots of nooks and crannies that can harbor all sorts of bacteria and germs, the Cleankeys keyboard eliminates all of these hiding spots.

This flat keyboard is 100% touch sensitive, so all you'll have to do is wipe the keyboard down with a disinfecting cloth and you'll get rid of most of the germs. The average keyboard has 3,295 germs per square inch. By wiping a standard keyboard with a disinfecting cloth, you'll kill only about 5% of the bacteria. By wiping the Cleankeys keyboard with a disinfecting cloth, you'll get rid of 99% of these germs. This means you'll be left with mere 33 germs per square inch to deal with on the Cleankeys keyboard. Interestingly enough, the average toilet seat has about 49 germs per square inch, so the keyboard will be cleaner than your toilet.

The keyboard is flat and touch sensitive, so it will likely take some getting used to since there isn't any tactile feedback from the keys. The company claims users will see a 30% reduction in the speed of their typing compared to a standard keyboard, but “that time is typically made up many times in the time saved cleaning.”We don’t know how true that will be for an average user (how many of you actually spend hours cleaning your keyboard?), but for hospitals and similar settings, having an easy to clean keyboard may very well be worth it.

The Cleankeys keyboard is washable, has an integrated trackpad, and comes with a plastic or glass top for $400 and $450 respectively.

iPhone Owners Stage Anti-AT&T Demonstration At Santa Clara U, Might Get Results
The biggest thing that happened at Santa Clara University (from anational perspective) was that season opening win over the UNC-ChapelHill basketball team that eventually went on to win a NationalChampionship in NCAA Men's Basketball. The biggest thing to happen atSanta Clara University this decade is most likely this: a complaintthat's gaining all sorts of national attention.

According to a new article in the Chronicle of Higher Education, a slewof iPhone owners at the school are fed up with AT&T's poorreception on campus. So fed up that they have organized a "day ofcomplaint" to push for better coverage. To be honest, the main reasonthis little demonstration is picking up so much steam is due to theperception of AT&T across the nation. Many feel that the carrier'sreception is subpar, and that they're networks are overcrowded inmajor cities. To make matters worse, they're the only carrier inAmerica to offer the iPhone, which many people see as the bestsmartphone for the money. In other words, you're basically opting forworse service in order to have a superior phone, and it seems thatconsumers are finally down with just "biting the bullet."

The "Campus Wide Call AT&T to Complain Day" saw loads of studentsand professors make several hundred calls to AT&T in order to maketheir voices heard, noting that many students "can't get reception inmany of the dormitories, in the basements of thelibrary and the student center, in some academic buildings, and instudent houses near the campus." What's crazy is that it worked. On themorning of the demonstration, Leon F. Beauchman, an area manager forAT&T, made an unexpected visit to the campus. He somehow caughtwind of the event beforehand, and he showed up in order to do what'sbest known as "damage control."

According to the report, AT&T is already working to better serviceat the school, but they certainly have a lot of other demands on themat the moment. 4G is just around the bend, and they need to improve theamount of cell sites in order to get 7.2Mbps data out to more people. At the very least, this is proof that a small minority can still getrecognized, and hopefully everyone will benefit from the demonstration.

Haleron Lowers The Tablet PC Price Bar With $199 iLet Mini HAL
We've said it before, and we'll keep right on saying it: the tablet isback in a big way, but the consumers have yet to have time to actuallyspeak. In other words, only time will tell if people are ready tore-embrace the tablet PC, which was largely rejected years ago as beingtoo bulky, too niche and too expensive. Honestly, this whole marketingpush feels a lot like 3D. Consumers never really asked for 3D to make acomeback, but all of a sudden, motion picture producersdecided--seemingly across the board--that 3D was the way forward.

We've seen company after company detail their tablet PC plans, andwhile many have yet to materialize, there's little doubt that analystswill be watching sales of the JooJoo and iPad over the next couple ofmonths in order to get an early idea if this "comeback" is for real. But here's a thought: what if the iPad was just $199? Apple probablywon't even lower the MSRP on that device to under $200, but a smallercompany like Haleron has no problems going for broke. After all, it'sgoing to take something drastic (like a Core i7 inside of a tablet, ora tablet that costs $199) to get attention in a world full of Sony,Samsung, HP, Lenovo, Dell and Apple.

And that's exactly what Haleron is doing. The 7" iLet Mini HAL is oneof the most stylish slate PCs that we've seen, and the starting priceis an almost unbelievable $199. Of course, it won't be the fastesttablet in existance, with an older 600MHz VIA CPU that will almostcertainly have trouble playing back 720p and 1080p content. It willalso ship with 128MB of DDR2 memory, and instead of using a full-onoperating system, it will rely on Google's Android, which is typicallyreserved for smartphones but has made the occasional departure before.2GB of Flash storage will be provided, and 10GB of cloud storage isincluded as well. This is more of a glorified e-reader than anythingelse, particularly with that mobile OS, but still, it drives a hardbargain for less than $200.

The device is expected to start shipping next month, and we couldcertainly see a lot of tablet PC skeptics taking the plunge here asmore of an impulse buy than anything else. Will you be one of thoseearly adopters, or are you waiting to see if you really need a tabletwhen your netbook is humming along just fine?

Help: Dell Laptop Processor & GPU Customize options.

i have a confusion about the options for the 2 most important features of a Dell laptop i'm customizing on their site.

Firstly,Please let me know if there is any need to upgrade: Core i3-350 to Core i5-430. Is this feasible or just a negligible performance upgrade ?

Secondly,Keeping in mind that i want the GPU which has pretty good video playback and can play games at good Frame rates(if not better/excellent). Also it should be future ready too. Which of these three graphics option should i go for:

1) Mobility Radeon HD 4530 512MB

2) Mobility Radeon HD 4570 512MB

3) Mobility Radeon HD 5450 1GB (is it worth upgrading from HD 4530 or HD 4570 to this one)

While checking the Reviews of Laptop GPUs i noticed that the ATI mobility Radeon 4XXX/5XXX series have Lower Shader clocks than nvidia geforce 210/310M . Does that make any difference ?

New resolution suddenly appeared!

This is not a problem, It's just strange and therefore is bugging me.

I have a Radeon HD 5770, which I've had since November 2009. With my generic branded piece of s**t monitor, the max resolution I could get was 1440 by 900, which I was happy with. Today, after changing nothing, I have woken up to a max resolution of 1600 by 1200, and it works!

Just out of morbid curiosity, how can a new higher resolution suddenly become available over night after doing no kind of update?

I'll be honest with you, I've thought long and hard about this for at least 2 minutes and the only logical explanation I can come to . . . . is gremlins!

Overlcocking - Is it worth it?

In the coming months I am planning on getting a solid computer featuring the i7 CPU's. More specifically I plan on getting the new PC from cyberpowerpc. Now, while browsing a plethora of hardware you can't help but notice all the "OC Certified" parts.

Simply stated, when you overclock you are pushing your computer up 10-20%, right?

So, with the i7 series already having great performance, is it even worth it to spend considerably more money?

-Thanks guys
