NVIDIA ForceWare 197.13 beta driver released
If you had to uninstall NVIDIA's last driver update on account of the fan speed and over-heating issues it provoked, then the good news is that the company's latest beta driver resolves these problems, while also providing a number of other benefits.
This is a WHQL-candidate driver for GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, 200, and 300-series desktop GPUs and ION desktop GPUs.
This driver resolves fan speed issues reported with version 196.75 drivers. NVIDIA asks that you remove 196.75 drivers and update to either 196.21 WHQL drivers or to this 197.13 WHQL-candidate driver.

Intel's Larrabee to "do a Lazarus"
As we know, Intel's discrete GPU project codenamed Larrabee was shelved for what appeared to be the foreseeable future, but is it completely dead? No says a member of Intel staff who had a prominent position working on said project.
Admitting that information about Larrabee had leaked out "like information leaking out of a leaky sieve," our source also said he'd never bet against Intel and that had Larrabee emerged on time, "it would have been industry changing.
"But there is a whole product plan and roadmap still in place," he said adding "Intel has the luxury of being able to release stuff in its own time, there aren't too many other companies that can do that."
Tech Eye has the full story.

This probably goes without saying to be honest, but in a recent interview primarily concerned with Futuremark Game Studio's Shattered Horizon, the company's CEO Jukka Mäkinen took some time out to confirm that the next iteration of 3DMark is in development, and with a focus on all things DirectX 11.
Computer and Video Games has the interview in full.

AMD Catalyst 10.3a "performance driver" coming later today
In a rather odd turn of events (in terms of naming schemes at least), although we won't be seeing AMD release Catalyst 10.3 until a little later this month, today will see the launch of Catalyst 10.3a to the public, serving as a preview of what's to come and boasting a whole host of performance improvements across a wide range of game titles alongside some additional Eyefinity 6 updates over the standard Catalyst 10.3 release.
