[Rumour] All ATI Radeon HD 5830 to be non-reference
As evidenced by all the leaked pictures of the Radeon HD 5830, each vendor gave its HD 5830 its own distinctive look. The latest rumours suggest that ATI have indeed given AIB partners full freedom to create their own reference design, right at launch.
This comes as a stark contrast to recent criticism that ATI were pegging AIB partners with strict limits on non-reference designs. We haven't seen pictures of boxed HD 5830 with a reference design. In fact, even in the presentation slide, the picture of the HD 5830 has been blanked out.

ATI Radeon HD 5830 Benchmarks
Fresh from leaking AMD's official presentation slides, IT168 is back with a full scale review of the Radeon HD 5830. Performance shows the HD 5830 taking a major hit from the HD 5850 - approximately 25% on average. This is about where we would expect, given the HD 5830 has a full 320 shaders less than the HD 5850 and half the ROPs (16).
The HD 5830 is also pitted against the now EOL'd Geforce GTX 260 and GTX 275. The HD 5830 edges out the GTX 275 universally, and quite comfortably in most benchmarks.
