Logitech Claims Three Year Battery Life for Wireless Desktop MK710
Our current weekly forum poll here at OCC asks our members about their mouse and keyboard preferences; wired or wireless? Those who prefer the reduced clutter of the wireless option, or who are looking for a keyboard and mouse to use with their laptop might take an interest in Logitech's latest offering. The Wireless Desktop MK710 has a claimed battery life of three years, an impressive feat if accurate. It does of course depend on how heavily you use your input devices, with Logitech basing its claims on two million keystrokes a year and unspecified mouse usage. Reducing the active mode time of the keyboard and mouse when left idle is one way that Logtiech squeezes out battery life, as well as using its tiny 2.4GHz Unifying receiver, which should be small enough for laptop users to leave connected to a USB port at all times.
You probably wouldn't want to carry around the the MK710 with you as an addition to a netbook (unless you really needed that increased typing speed potential), but it looks as though it should slip into a larger laptop bag or be useful for a desktop machine. You should expect to see it available in Europe during February and in the U.S. starting in April with an MSRP of $99.99

Google Wants to Sell You Broadband
Google has revealed its intent to enter into the broadband market in the United States, which is falling behind much of the world in speed and pricing. The fiber-optic network from Google has a goal of 1Gbps, more speed than any residential user could need. The best news from the announcement is that Google plans to offer this service at prices comparable to much slower services currently offered. Initial plans are to offer the service to roughly 500,00 homes across the United States. Google hopes that by doing this it can further expand its offering of apps that may be more bandwidth intensive.

ATI Radeon HD 5830 Spotted For أ¢آ‚آ¬215
The ATI Radeon HD 5830 was expected to be released a few weeks back, but technical problems with it led to a last minute delay. We can be expecting it around the end of February or early March. Based on the Cypress LE core, it features 1280 processing cores, 60 texture units and a core clock of 750 MHz, probably to give it that extra boost in performance. It will come with the standard 1GB of GDDR5, clocked at 1000MHz with support for ATI Eyefinity. It will come with a decent amount of connectors, including two DVI ports, a HDMI port and a DisplayPort. According to the listing that the source found, it will be coming to Europe at around €215, which is around $300 – but you can expect it to be much lower in the states at around $250. Stick around for updates.
