
ATI Stream SDK v2.01 Released With OpenCLT Support
ATI just sent us word that they have released ATI Stream SDK v2.01! The ATI Stream Software Development Kit (SDK) is a complete development platform created by AMD to allow you to quickly and easily develop applications accelerated by ATI Stream technology. The SDK allows you to develop your applications in a high-level language, OpenCL (Open Computing Language). This is an update to ATI Stream SDK v2.0 which was released just before Christmas last year.

Nvidia expects over 50 Optimus-enabled notebooks to be available in mid-2010
Nvidia has projected that more than 50 Optimus-enabled notebooks will be available in mid-2010 with Asustek Computer expected to launch a series of notebook models, including UL50Vf, N61Jv, N71Jv, N82Jv and U30Jc, supporting the technology shortly. Optimus technology supports Windows 7, Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 (Arrandale), Atom N450 and N470, and Core 2 Duo (Penryn) processors, and Nvidia's GeForce 200M and 300M-series GPUs and its Ion 2 platform.
Nvidia's Optimus technology enables notebooks equipped with an Nvidia discrete GPU alongside an IGP to seamlessly and automatically switch between the two for a given application, helping to ensure the the system is making the best use of available hardware resources to provide optimum performance and battery life. Optimus is an improvement over previous dual-GPU setups which need the user to manually select which GPU is active before starting a particular task, and in some cases require the system to be rebooted too. Nvidia claimed that notebooks with Optimus could see battery-life extended by up to 2-hours.

U.S. Successfully Tests Airborne Laser on Missile

They managed to peg an airborne missile and bring it down. Dr Evil's dream of sharks with lasers may be next.

Aliens vs. Predator - New 'Alien' Trailer
The folks over at Sega have sent in yet another gameplay video of their upcoming release, Aliens versus Predator. This time, the video shows showcases the Alien and many of its moves. As the February 16 release date approaches, there is also news breaking that shortly after going Gold, Rebellion, the developers of AvP, will offer special downloadable content for those who have purchase AvP: Special Edition version.
Downloadable Content on day one for those who purchase the Special Editions will consist of four brand new multiplayer maps: two new Survivor maps and two for the other multiplayer modes, said Tim Jones, Rebellions head of art and design.
