LG to bring 15-inch OLED TV to US by mid-2010
LG will bring its 15-inch OLED TV to the US by the middle of the year, company staff said at the Integrated Systems Europe show. Already available in Korea as the EL9500, the screen is the first production OLED TV to reach a true HD resolution, peaking at 720p (1366x768). The extremely high contrast of OLED gives the set amazing image quality, according to those at the show.

EU to approve Yahoo/Microsoft search deal

The latest roll-out in the Chrome Beta channel brought the 5.0.307.7 version of Google's browser which provides Mac users with a lot of goodies previously only available on Windows, like extensions, bookmark sync and manager, the cookie manager and task manager.

Opera Mini has 50 million active users
Opera Software has today revealed the latest milestone achieved by the Opera Mini mobile browser - 50 million unique monthly users, as recorded in January. The 50 million mark was reached just three months after Opera Mini topped 40 million users, so the software's growth accelerated quite rapidly recently thanks to adoption in every geographic location.

Sony rolls out first 3D-ready Blu-ray player
Sony launched its first 3D-ready Blu-ray player, known as the BDP-S470 for those of you who absolutely love memorizing gizmos by their official names. Technically, this model is not ready to display Blu-ray 3D content just yet, but it will be able to do so later this summer via a firmware upgrade, and it might be the same firmware which will enable the Sony PS3 to handle 3D playback over Blu-ray as well. Apart from that, Sony has also made known that its BDP-S570 Blu-ray Disc model and the BDV-E770W and BDV-E570 Blu-ray Disc home theater systems will be able to support Blu-ray 3D as well via their respective firmware updates this summer.

Sony & Microsoft reveal PSN & XBL numbers
Both Sony and Microsoft have revealed the numbers behind their console online services, with both services growing significantly over the year. Sony CEO Jack Tretton says that the free PlayStation Network (PSN) now has over 40 million users, with the service growing 155 percent in December alone.

OpenOffice 3.2 is out
A new version of OpenOffice is out, promising faster launch speeds and better support for Microsoft Office 2007 files. Naturally, the suite is completely free. OpenOffice 3.2 (http://download.openoffice.org/) also sees the debut of comments in Impress, encryption support for Office 2007-formatted files, and smoother sort, merging, and copy and paste functions in Calc. There are few more tweaks so that highlighting stands out better with a new blue background and edging.
