VMware acquires management tools from RTO Software

VMware has acquired three management tools from RTO Software, and will integrate them into its products for desktop and application virtualization, the company said in a blog posting on Tuesday.

Xerox sues Google, YouTube, and Yahoo over search patents

Xerox has filed a lawsuit against Yahoo, Google, and YouTube alleging infringement of Xerox patents on search and integration technology.

The document management and services company alleges that Google's AdWords and AdSense services violate a Xerox patent on automatically generating searches. The suit, filed Friday in U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, also alleges that Yahoo Search Marketing, Yahoo Publisher Network, and Y!Q Contextual Search infringe the patent.

Support decision looms for SAP users

Many SAP customers will be grappling with a big decision for the next few weeks: Whether to go with standard support or the richer-featured but pricier Enterprise Support service.

The situation stems back to 2008, when SAP told customers they would be switched to Enterprise Support. SAP relented after a protracted outcry from many customers, saying in January it would once again give customers a standard support option.

Intel, VC firms to invest $3.5 billion in U.S. tech
