DRAM industry on the road to recovery, study says

Global revenue for DRAM more than doubled during the fourth quarter of 2009 on a year-over-year basis, driven by increased PC shipments and higher average selling prices, research firm iSuppli said on Thursday.

Revenue from worldwide DRAM sales was US$8.5 billion during the fourth quarter, compared to $4.13 billion during the fourth quarter of 2008, said Mike Howard, senior analyst at iSuppli. Revenue during the fourth quarter was up 40 percent sequentially, Howard said.

Adobe working to fix security bug in Download Manager

Adobe Systems is working to fix a glitch in software it uses to speed up downloads of its products that could give hackers a way to push malicious programs onto a victim's PC.

According to security researcher Aviv Raff, Download Manager -- a small program Adobe users to speed up the initial installation of its products -- can be misused to force victims to install unwanted software on their computers.

HP resells QLogic edge switches, raising questions about its Cisco relationship

Hewlett-Packard disclosed today that it has begun selling stackable QLogic Corp.-developed 8Gbit/sec Fibre Channel switches that are targeted for use at remote offices and corporate departments.

The QLogic switches have 20 8Gbit/sec Fibre Channel ports and can be stacked in groups of up to six to create a high-end offering with 120 8Gbit/sec Fibre Channel ports along with up to 24 20Gbit/sec interswitch link ports.
