Amazon.com Pulls Macmillan Books From Its "Shelves"
In the wake of Apple's announcement of the iPad, comes the first salvo in what is probably going to be a drawn out battle. Amazon.com has pulled books published by Macmillan, electronic or not, from its site.Search for authors available from Macmillan, and with the exception, it seems, of library-bound or "bargain books," you won't find Amazon.com pricing for them. You'll find them at "other sellers," but not Amazon.com. You can see it in the above image for Robert Jordan's "Knife of Dreams." Why

What do you get for those prices?Admire: 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with Centrino technology Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-Bit 2GB

New Survey Finds Texting And Driving To Be Safe--Wait, What?
Ready for a real shocker? That texting and driving habit you've been trying to kick may not be as bad for you as the insurance companies have led you to believe. Of course, we would still recommend putting the phone down while you're driving (we're speaking for all those cars around you, for the record), but an interesting new survey has unearthed some unexpected results. For years, we've seen state after state ban texting and driving after being told by insurance company-funded surveys that it significantly

Just dropped in to say HI

Most of you probably won't remember me...it's been a long time...and it was just Egaladeist then, had to create a new account, lost all the details for the last one and the e-mail I used is long defunct.

Wasn't easy though, kept getting errors, finally found the script to allow to get on.

See a few changes, not necessarily for the better...apparently the powers that be neglected to add a contact page ( or at least I couldn't find one...maybe more scripts ).

So...besides being very annoyed with the difficulty and time wasted even getting back on here...how's everyone been?

Admire:
  • 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with Centrino technology
  • Genuine Windowsآ® 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
  • 2GB 800MHz DDR3 dual-channel memory
  • 128GB3 solid state drive
Desire:
  • 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with Centrino technology
  • Genuine Windowsآ® 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
  • 4GB 800MHz DDR3 dual-channel memory
  • 256GB3 solid state drive
  • Mobile Broadband
Shared:
  • Super-thin 13.4-inch 16:9 (High Definition; 720p) WLED display
  • Full-size keyboard with back-lighting and scalloped, metallic key cap design
  • Integrated 1.3 megapixel camera and integrated digital microphone
  • IO: Display Port, USBx3 (1 eSATA combination), Audio Out and integrated RJ-45 port
  • Communications: Gigabit LOM, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11n (3x3)
  • 5+ hr battery life using Li-Polymer cells; 40 Whr
To be clear, none of those prices include the Dell Adamo external DVD-RW drive.

Unlike many of their models, the Adamo isn't all that customizable in its various forms. Usually you can up the RAM, or the CPU, or whatever on a Dell laptop pretty easily. There's no way to start with an Admire and add just RAM, and keep the CPU, or vice versa. Want more RAM added to your order, and you have to go to the Admire, instead.

For years, we've seen state after state ban texting and driving after being told by insurance company-funded surveys that it significantly increases the risk of a crash. And frankly, it makes sense. Doing anything other than driving while attempting to drive is probably not in the best interest of personal safety. At any rate, the Highway Loss Data Institute recently "compared collisions of 100 insured vehicles per year in four different jurisdictions before and after bans on handheld cell phone use took effect." The study focused on incidents in New York, Washington, D.C., Connecticut and California, and believe or not, they found that "state laws that ban drivers from talking on hand-held cell phones seem to have no effect on crash rates."

According to the study, monthly fluctuations in crash rates "didn't change after bans were enacted," and now investigations are being done to see why the findings clash so significantly with earlier assumptions. One thing's for sure--even if texting and driving is statistically "safe," you'll still get written up with a ticket if you're caught in a state where it's illegal, and we still don't condone it around these parts.آ

Can faulty temperature sensor determine a shutdown?

My pc with an old Barton processor is restarting after some time and it keeps restarting at a very short interval (it doesn't even boot) if i don't shut it down for good... to cool off.

A cold start shows my processor temperature at 50 Celsius degrees (122 Fahrenheit degrees)... and it rises normally reaching 80 degrees Celsius or more.

So... it is obvious that the sensor is broken (i replaced the thermal paste and the cooler is running fine). Can this determine those restarts in order to protect the processor from an inexistent overheating?

P.S.

The sensor is normally located in the processor and not on the motherboard, right? (because if this is not the case... it could be the motherboards fault for misinterpreting the temperature)

Which would you keep

So I have 2 systems 1 of which I am selling to a friend. I just can't make up my mind which to keep. Here are the 2 choices.

i7 860 with Asus P7P55D premium or i7 920 with Asus rampage II extreme. I really like the extra features on the rampage board and there are more water blocks available for it but the 860 is a better processor. So what would you do? And keeping both is not the option cause I want to use the money for the water cooling parts.
