Oops, I did it again. Not me, but ATI. They've gone and cut their latest 40nm GPU in half again, given it a new name, and released a brand new video card that smacks the competition around. Just four months after the release of their first 5xxx series video card (and two million unit sales later...), ATI is releasing the sixth iteration of DX11-capable hardware. The new card uses the exact same architecture as the HD58xx and HD57xx series; ATI basically cut the Juniper chip to get hardware specs somewhere below the HD5750. Marvell 88SS8014-BHP2 Da-Vinci SSD Controller
After the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show concluded, Benchmark Reviews was fortunate enough to test a few Solid State Drive samples built from the Marvell 88SS8014-BHP2 Da-Vinci SATA controller chip. While very little information is openly availble on the Marvell part at this time, one important feature has been revealed: this is the first SATA-6Gbps Generation-III SSD available to the retail market. Introduced with the Plextor LA-32M1S 'Strong-Page' and LA-64M1S MLC SSD, and expected to be the foundation for other products such as the Crucial RealSSD-C300, the Marvell 88SS8014 chip is the latest addition to Solid State Drive control processors.
