Intel Unveils New Atom Processors
Intel announced a new Atom processor today, the Atom N450. The N450 will feature one processing core and will consume 5.5 watts of power, 20 percent less than current versions. The N450 features a 1.66GHz clock speed, which is the same as the Atom N280. However, Intel has placed the graphics and memory controllers on the CPU, making communication between the two faster and increasing bandwidth to the rest of the system. The integrated GPU found in the N450 will be capable of playing 720p video, though Intel says the platform isn't being targeted for that use. Intel has additionally made available the D410 and D510 desktop series Atom processors. Both run at 1.66GHz, but the D510 is a dual core offering.
