Mobile Phone GSM Cracked
It looks like it may be time for a new encryption algorithm for mobile phones as the current one has been cracked. Although the chance of someone decoding your cell conversation and learning that fluffy has fleas is remote at best, the longer the encryption is compromised, the greater the odds that someone may indeed be eavesdropping.

A German computer engineer said Monday that he had deciphered and published the secret code used to encrypt most of the worlds digital mobile phone calls, saying it was his attempt to expose weaknesses in the security of global wireless systems. The action by the encryption expert, Karsten Nohl, aimed to question the effectiveness of the 21-year-old G.S.M. algorithm, a code developed in 1988 and still used to protect the privacy of 80 percent of mobile calls worldwide. (The abbreviation stands for global system for mobile communication.)

InnoDisk launching 800MB/sec PCI-e SSD Called Matador II
InnoDisk recently announced a new lineup of PCI-Express based SSDs it calls the Matador II Series. The Matador II high-speed storage solutions are capable of read and write speeds of up to 800MB/sec and 600MB/sec respectively thanks to the use of the PCI-E x8 interface. Capacities range from 128GB to 2TB, so InnoDisk has a speed demon in various drive sizes! No word on pricing, but we don't think the 2TB version will be inexpensive.

InnoDisk PICe SSD adopts PCIe Gen.1x8 standard with bandwidth of 20Gb/sec when the biggest capacity can reach 2TB. In the meantime, it makes a breakthrough of data transfer speed of 800MB/sec (max.) for read and 600MB/sec (max.) for write. Moreover, the device offers internal RAID allocation function; users can choose to program it as one or more disks but keep performing the best still.
