U.S. FTC files formal complaint against Intel

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Intel, charging the world's largest computer chip maker with illegally using its dominant market position to stifle competition and strengthen its monopoly for a decade.

The FTC alleged that Intel has waged a "systematic campaign" to cut off rivals' access to the marketplace. Intel deprived consumers of choice and innovation in the microchip industry, the FTC alleged.

IBM to buy BPM vendor Lombardi

IBM on Wednesday said it has signed a deal to buy Lombardi, an Austin, Texas, BPM (business process management) vendor. Terms were not disclosed.

BPM software helps companies develop, implement, and manage business processes, such as the steps involved in hiring help or buying supplies.

Amazon adds media streaming to content delivery service

Amazon Web Services has added support for audio and video streaming to the beta version of CloudFront, its Web service for content delivery, the company said on Wednesday.

The support for streaming is based on Adobe's Flash Media Server. Today, the service supports on-demand streaming, but Amazon plans to add support from live streaming next year, it said.

Immigration reform bill proposes more H-1Bs, new 'founders visa'

Nearly 90 members of the U.S. House are co-sponsoring an immigration reform bill that would make some broad changes to the H-1B program, as well as take the high-skilled employment debate in new directions.

The legislation would create a federal agency to review U.S. employment needs, a new type of visa for startup founders, as well as an increase the supply of H-1B visas.

WSO2 is announcing on Tuesday WSO2 BAM (Business Activity Monitor), offering real-time visibility into SOA processes, transactions, and workflows.

WSO2 BAM is designed to support heterogeneous SOA and provides a lightweight alternative to large, complex BAM solutions, WSO2 said.
