
Google buys collaboration app to boost Wave
In order to boost its Wave product, Google has acquired AppJet, which makes the EtherPad real-time workgroup collaboration application.

Google and AppJet have a shared vision of how Web collaboration can benefit users, and we're excited to have the AppJet team contribute to the success of Google Wave," a Google spokesman said on Friday.

Microsoft and Yahoo finalize search deal
Microsoft and Yahoo have finalized the terms of a broad search and advertising agreement intended to help them compete more effectively with Google.
The companies announced the agreement in July, in which Microsoft’s Bing search engine would power Yahoo’s search results, and Yahoo would provide premium search-advertising services for both companies.

MySQL use predicted to drop under Oracle ownership
Usage of the open-source MySQL database is set to decline if Oracle succeeds in buying the software's owner, Sun Microsystems, according to new data released by analyst firm The 451 Group on Friday.
The firm polled 347 open-source software users. While 82.1 percent of respondents use MySQL today, that figure will drop to 72.3 percent by 2014, the study found.
