JBL's Creature III Speakers Reek Of Alien Endorsement
Your options are pretty close to limitless when it comes to PC speakers, but who could ever forget the original Creatures? Now, JBL has decided tomilk its hit speaker set for a bit more cash, and the third-generationof 'em have just been announced. Those familiar with the prior Creaturesets will be familiar with the design; there are a pair of domedsatellites coupled with a like-shaped subwoofer.

We recall previous iterations being a little weak on power and a bitlight on details, but let's be honest--even JBL knows that the designis likely to win you over before you ever plug them in. According tothe company, this new three-piece set boasts a "more streamlined, airyfeel while staying true to its sci-fi roots," and the subwoofer is now"more compact, making it an easy addition to any desk, dorm room orsmall living space." JBL's design doesn't stop with the shape, asyou'll also find touch-sensitive controls and a memory function thatrecalls the last setting where the volume was left. The speakers arecompatible with pretty much any device, and of course, they'll beavailable exclusively at Apple retail stores and at www.apple.com for$129.99.

The quirky-cool JBL Creature III audio system features the legendary JBL sound quality combined with a funky, futuristic design. “Creature fans enjoyed the style of the previous designs and will be excited that the Creature III is back in time for the holidays,â€‌ said Christopher M. Dragon, director of Consumer and Field Marketing for Harman International. “The Creature III stays true to Harman International’s longstanding reputation for unbeatable sound quality and forward-thinking designs that create the best experience in music and gaming.â€‌

Super Talent Launches CFast Storage Cards
Super Talent released a new compact digital storage product line, CFast storage cards. The CFast storage card uses a SATA interface to offer improved and unmatched write/read performance speeds. As you should guess from its name, the new card is an evolution of the traditional CompactFlash card.

At 375MB/s, CFast offers four times the bandwidth than the fastest high speed 600x (90MB/s) CompactFlash card. The CFast uses the small original CF mechanical form factor. Super Talent has clocked the CFast cards at up to 200MB/sec read speeds. The first generation of CFast storage cards supports transfer speeds up to 200MB/s as well.

The CFast Storage Card has a single-chip controller and flash memory module and measures 36.4 x 42.8 x 3.3mm for Type I CFast storage cards and 36.4 x 42.8 x 5.0mm for Type II (the same physical dimensions as the CompactFlash card). The SATA interface consists of a 7-pin signal connector and a 17-pin power and control connector. The card operates at 3.3V.

Super Talent will offer five CFast storage cards: 8GB and 16GB cards based on SLC (Single Level Cell) flash and 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB cards based on MLC (Multi Level Cell) flash.
